OK, guys, I was thinking of something...

Many of us like MSX games, and MSX game cheats are scattered through the web. Some of us even know cheats or passwords for MSX games that are not on the web or in any magazine... So why not creating a topic where all MSX freaks around the world could post a game cheat? Let's start!

Mirai - Enter XAIN as password for more ammo, energy, all weapons and suits.

Magical Kid Wiz - Plug joystick at second port and then press space, joystick button and move the joystick at any direction (different directions give lives, magical books, and more time).

Knightmare - Press Select + Y + Left+ Right at title screen and keep them pressed until the game begins. From now on, press Select to become invisible.

Super Laydock - Enter 2112121212121212 as password for all weapons.

Please, do not post loaders, only game native cheats, OK? Let's go!

Usas - Type [CTRL] at the title screen. Then input for:

I'm repeating myself, but luck ('un' in Japanese version, LK in translated version, the fourth stat) is 'broken' in Dragonslayer VI. Set the 'level up' setting to 'set', and spend all or most of the points you get on this stat. The game will be very, very easy!

Yie ar Kung fu 2

Well know cheat: in the main title, push E S S C C C F F F F (one letter after other) and you will start with 94 lives.

An another cheat: If you put Yie ar Kung Fu in slot 2 while playing second episode you can get a nice cheat. From level 3 and higher you can meet your father and receive a cup of energy if you and your enemy are with low energy (red), but you have to got a bit less life than your enemy.

Zanac-Ex

There are some cheats but I like sound test cheat, because music from this game is great! Push at same time the keys C D S T while game over tune is played, don't release the keys until you get the sound test. You can exit with Z.

An important Metal Gear one that's not mentioned yet:
HIRAKE GOMA (or something like that ^_^) - gives you all cards ..

More cheats for Metal Gear

If you want to pass through a electric field you can pause the game (F1), enter in the loading / save menu (F4 or F5), then exit (ESC) and return to the game presing again F1. Now you can walk withouth receive any damage. This cheat also works with objets like ratio and ammo; if you get the object and after make the cheat, the object will appear in front of you!

When you defeated Metal Gear use the Cigarrettes and you will get extra 2000 units of time.

Gulkave sound test and game level selection

In the main screen push: right, right, left, left, up, down, left, down, down and down.

You can select the musics of the game and the dificult level.

Zanac-Ex: At the start-select menu, hold one of the numeric keys down (1 to 7) and press fire. You will start the game already equipped with the corresponding weapon.

Also Zanac-Ex: If you have a computer which allows games to stick in the memory, reset the computer, and hold the joystick up (I think it was that direction, if not try another).
Now you are able to start at area 10.

There should be a similar cheat to Gall Force, starting with more strength points, does anyone remember this?

Zanac and Zanac-Ex: At the very start of the game, don't fire. Destroy the very first enemy which appears in the game (the flying-spying-camera-thingie) with a single shot of your B-weapon. A Randar will appear (extra life bonus).

Can I assume that everybody already knows about the warps in Zanac and Zanac-Ex?

I must know more, but my (organic) memory is a tad broken right now. More to follow.

@Oscar: Nice Zanac-Ex and Gulkave cheats, didn't know about those.

I think that we have to include these and others MSX game informations in www.gamefaqs.com. It's a reference in gaming and work as a portfolio too. Our system have few entries in that database.

A friend of mine, aging 17, loves old games but laments do not find information about most MSX games that he have enjoyed...

A Metal Gear-related question:

I feel I'm near the end of the game. But then Big Boss beeps me up, and tells me to shut down my computer. As I do so, the screen instantly turns black and it seems I didn't manage to beat the game. What should I do?

IIRC, in Zanac Ex, if you use an Auto-Fire joystick, you will get tougher and more enemies halfway first level.

and in Zanac, somewhere in level 5, I think, there was a smiley face that would massively upgrade your current gun if you shoot at it repeatedly

This might be a 'duh', but in Aleste 2, you can change your speed by pressing <left> or <right> when you have paused the game with <stop>.

Usas: Play the very first ruin with Wit and beat the boss while happy. Then, enter the second ruin and stay happy. This way, you can double-jump to the ledge you'd normally have to push around all those bricks for.
