oh come on, djh1697... MSX and Tandy 100 just have to wake a little CPU, a few Kb of memory, organize the memory pages, check the integrity of the hardware, load the BIOS and the DISK SO, activate the sound circuits, look for external devices, execute boot files...
...
the same as windows with PC!!! |

Niles the Tandy Model 100 has no DISK OS to load, and no sound circuits to load - unless you call a "beep" a sound circuit.
I guess it was an unfair comparison

HEY! Why you don´t bring your MSX to repair immediately!! If electric device starts to smell "funny" there´s a big chance it could be in flames in next moment!

Guard yourself, Sire! All Tandy PCs had some crazy 3-channel synth chip, same as in IBM PCjr. So "beep" yourself |

About the MRC contests, will it have some special class for hardware? I think it would boost up hardware developers to come with something new |

Dhau: The soundchip you're thinking of is the AY-3-891x, the very same "crazy 3-channel synth" chip as the PSG in the MSX. ;-)
OTOH, the Tandy 100 is unrelated to the Tandy PCs, just as it is unrelated to the TRS-80s. IIRC, it is an OEM version of a NEC design, and was also OEMed in Sweden by the state telecom.

Do you know under what name it was marketed by Televerket?

Televerket in Norway used SVI MSX's |

Ah, they did the same in Sweden! They oftenly markted them with split speed modems for use with Videotex (a system like the french Minitel).
Televerket also educated their employees with SVI MSX and offered them buying one for home.

It just gets better and better, doesn't it?
Seriously though, I was amazed seeing so much activity (I've just joined a few weeks ago).
