Greetings from Brazil!!!

Can someone help me to enumerate the hardware/software differences between Panasonic A1 computers?

I got some rests of an A1-WSX but the board seems to be from the FX model (there is no FM chip). But the software SEEMS to be from WSX. In the ROM area, my board only have IC16 fitted. A friend of mine sent me a photo of his WSX guts, and all ROM sockets are filled, except IC15. Interesting that his puter does not have IC9 (4001) and mine has. Anyone can tell something about these differences?

Thanks!

I may be wrong, but FX has less "firware" (that is useless Japanese "office" apps in ROM) then WX, and WX has less then WSX.

In any case, I'm uploading a hirez pic (3072x2048) of one of my WSX motherboards to my homepage. It'll be available for a few days here: tht.net/~aoboroc/img/wsxmobo.jpg (1.2 Megabytes)

Thanks a lot, dhau! You said one of your boards...do you have many of them around? Want to sell one? I'd like to get a wsx board to, at least, discover what are the differences and teach people to mod their FX/WX boards to a higher standard. The resident apps can be changed to something more useable changing the ROMs. And what that two SRAMs are for?

I think the S-RAM is used for the firmware. At least in case of the Turbo-R ST this is the case. With some experimenting it should be possible to find out how to access it though. Perhaps this is also similar to the Turbo-R. (or even the same)

Yes, the S-RAM is used by the firmware. Besides, the mapper of the firmware rom is exactly the same on WX, WSX and ST, but of course the ST works differently as it is a Turbo-R and not a 'simple' MSX2+

I don't have just boards, but two full Panasonic FS-A1WSX computers, both upgraded to 512K ram. I can sell one of those computers at some point on eBay, as I don't like having doubles. Much preferred however is to swap my upgraded WSX for a WX, FX or any Sanyo MSX2+ except Wavy-35J (I have this model and I upgraded it to 512K as well) in good condition, upgraded to 512K or not.

Sure I'm having wet dreams about upgraded Expert (with CIEL's Expert 3.0 motherboard).

hehe, expert 3.0 is one of the hardest ones to get here...so few were produced, and who has it, doesn't sell it for any money. But I can find some DDX upgraded 2.0 and 2.0+ if you like...

Sure, sound like a great deal. 2.0+ is a CIEL motherboard, right? Anyway, if you can contact me via ICQ #30291145 or e-mail aoboroc@hotmail.com, I'll be glad to discuss details. I'm sure we can work out a good trade. I have tonns of MSX hardware.
