so,anyone who plays msx stuff live from spain and would wanna join for a track or 2,drop me a mail !!!
it's about recycling,so micromusic's paco manzanares (born spain, lives in zurich) was asked to do a "making music with old computers night",as is the idea behind micromusic...So gameboy, atari and commodore 64 will be represented by some friend musicians from brussels and stockholm...but...it would not be complete if msx wasn't represented, specially in spain....

As you know, since july 2004 I compose mainly my songs with MSX, exactly with the FM PAC Synth and the PRO TRACKER by Tyfoon Soft. software The FM PAC is a Synth (true analogue synth) with the same level as much Moogs and of course as many Yamahas (the same Yamahas Yellow Magic Orchestra used in their first albums)

I have finished yesterday a new little album which is sent to downloads@msx.org also yesterday ^^ The new album is called "En movimiento" (In Motion) . Pure synth music, true music ;D

I am Spanish, but I am not from Madrid. I am from Pamplona, 407 km from Madrid: 5 hours by bus.

Digital? A friend of mine told me it was an analogue synth, which don't have nor biltrate nor frecuency (khz, for example). In some documentations also you can find that the FM PAC is an analogue synth. He told me this, also, watching the FM PAC's datasheets. http://www.funet.fi/pub/msx/docs/datasheets/ym2413.lzh

btw.. FM synthesis in general can be created from those old analogue monsters as well, were it not for the fact that those old oscillators are unstable (because they're voltage controlled, and the voltage that comes out of your electrical outlet isn't 100% stable), and for perfect FM you need stability. Which is why the ppl at Yamaha were convinced that analogue oscillators wouldn't work in their DX synths

And I'm not even mentioning the price of 96 potential analogue oscillators in a DX7 (excluding anything LFO'ish!!) ... -> digital operators.. that's far cheaper ^_^

I didn't know actually. But I am reading this article: "Guide to FM Synthesis" and they say that is not Analogue, but not Digital

http://www.computermusic.co.uk/tutorial/fm/fm1.asp

With a very good example: the impressive Yamaha DX7

Yes, the oscilators were a real problem How many groups have destroyed oscilators pushing the synths into their limits!

Ok, as I've seen the FM PAC, as the DX7 is from the very first generation of digital synths, which have some analogue parts and a sound made by the chip. Also, the sounds were very analogue style

Yours,

PD: Curiously, I know how to generate sounds with the FM PAC very very good and I don't like very much the "new" digital synths.

I had a girlfriend in Pamplona for seven years...

407 KM to Madrid, or 832 KM to Granada... My car knows it very well...
