Well, it DID ensure Konami the fact that every pirate freak indeed had ONE original SCC cartridge. To have proper sounds.

I think everybody bought Nemesis 2 back then...

Nemesis 1 is the last title using that 'old' logo... but it really was released in 1986... Nemesis 2 is really released in 1987. Just boot the game and see the release year in the intro screens.

Yep, that's right. But don't trust in the copyright year shown in the intro screen. Nemesis 3 was released in 1989, but the intro screen shows 1988.

What is the first MSX2 game with SCC anyway? I mean, most SCC games at the beginning were MSX1 games, whereas MSX2 games from the same period had to make do with the humble PSG. Maybe coding/pixeling for MSX2 was more expensive (more work) and there was no money left to the sound bit?

or a different dev. team.

A (hardware) graphic enhancement is much harder to integrate into a game than a bit of extra sound. For sound, you just tie the sound outputs of all available sound chips together and you're done.

true. Makes me remember the rather expensive (but cool) Virtua Racing for MegaDrive. Actually I specifically bought a MegaDrive later because it couldn't be emulated (it still isn't, allthough the better 32X version is now).

tbh. at the time I hardly even realised they were pirated games; they were just games on disk to me... then later, I learned you weren't supposed to do that *shrugs*.

speaking of which... I don't really like the new (really new) logo... I liked the 2 waves. In fact I think I miss 'em ;P

Maybe they put SCC sound to keep other softwares house far behind their "overall" quality, since MSX2 games from other companies could compete in gameplay with the Konami`s ones, diferent from what happened before 1986, when Konami was almost the only decent game developer.

It could also disencourage pirates, as it was already said.

I guess SCC being a really simple designed sound chip made it cheap also.
(even PSG is far more complex!)
