i read all and i not saw any joke-reaction.

the same that happens to website holders, happened to me. It is lacks of time... and ofcourse, if i needs to open the outlook, then looks for the email addr of a soft's programmer that i used, then to write a letter and send it...

maybe just doing available the reactions on the software database, it can boost the reactions and the good feedback... because in other way i will feedback only if it is necesary like informing a bug. ¿why? because nobody will take all the job of using the normal email channel just for reply "good job" overall because the user already thinks that the developer already has feedback.

If can be reacted on download db it will boost...
1. because you are already loged in.
2. because you already have the box to write something... (if you don't closed the browser).

Reactions to downloads will work for people who create downloadable production -and- visit MRC to view the reponses... But is that how it should work? I think not. If you really enjoy a production how much trouble is it to email the author, chat with him/her(?) on IRC, open up a topic, visit his/her(?) website and drop a line in the guestbook, etc... ?

Ofcourse we could facilitate reactions to each and every piece of content, but is that the way? Take Sandy and Phil for example. I don't see any logic in responding to their website at -this- website... That's plain weird

Let's face it, we (including me, yes) are almost all lazy bastards who find it too much trouble to actively try to give eachother the credz we deserve. Fairs are excellent ways to tell people how much you appreciate the things they do, but unfortunately we can't all be at the same fairs... Our scene is too large and too widely spread.

There's only one way to show your appreciation to any active MSX lovah lovah which is actively trying to express that appreciation.

All said; I'd like to add a IMHO and 'Just my 2 cents" as a disclaimer

yeah, lazy... more than lack of time is the problem!

surelly no one of us go out of home to run 1km every day.... for the same reason

and surely by the same reason we are all growing in size (horizontally) every year

Interestingly, I felt that my project give me various forms of appreciation from yours. Various friendly messages in the MRC forum, tons of same kind of messages from the guys that are beta testers. I have to thank all for that.

I could not understand a thing:
In the last two months the Cosmic Battle was in the Top 10 MRC downloads. 6th and 8th, with around 60 downloads. Why?

I post the main messages of w.i.p only for my beta testers. In the MRC I post only some of them. My beta testers, however, get always the last beta and don't have reasons to download a version of MRC, very outdated (I couldn't update this version because the MSXdev rules doesn't allow.

LOL @ Flyguille But lack of time cannot be the reason not to complement someone I'm glad Marison doesn't experience it the way some people do! The question why Cosmic Battle was in the top 10 MRC downloads? Dunno dude; maybe because peepz are curious to see what you made?

Lazyness...

I work, study (30 years old and now I'm at college for the first time), have wife with no child. Lack of time is a problem, but lazyness is the reason that move me to post in MRC forum instead of go to hunt some bugs...

Flyguile is almost totally correct.

This is not a MSX/MRC problem... People act the same way everywhere !
Last year, a famous house music show suddenly stopped on a french radio station.
People were very sad and wrote tens of messages to the main producer (because he's famous).

Then, somebody had the idea to create a CD label for the last show, that was available for download.
I was the only one to send something ; though I know the label I had created has been downloaded a hundred times, only two people gave me feedbacks : one for complaining about the download speed ; the other one was one of the producers :-)

Evidence : www.universdj.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=9482&highlight=pochette

PS : note that, perhaps, the label was ugly ;-))

Looking at those Google ads I'd say you'll bump into an Emile Ratelband unofficial fansite?

ok, back from the google ads to the topic: what does the MSX community want --> what does the MSX community have to do in order to prevent developers and webmasters from websites such as msxgamesbox and generation msx to get demotivated?
