<< I was wondering if anybody has ever seen or maybe owns
<< this 'credit card style rom' cart ?
I do. This predecessor of the famous Hu-Card is identical in size and weight to the PC-Engine game medium (also used as a re-writtable card by the Atari portofolio) and is featured in the encyclopedia of Game.Machines (in the large MSX chapter, pages 74 to 79 for example) and ...
<< Any pictures??
... shown in the introductory chapter on game storage media on page 7.
The Adventure Island card pictured there came in a luxury box - very nice imo :-)
The encyclopedia itself (224 pages, 600+ colour pictures) is available in English and in German language, see

there must be at least one thing in beecard willy, which is altered (+copyright text of course):
that colour code copy-protection is surely taken away from beginning of the game!
But hey... are there any Jet Set Willy Beecard owners who actually have PLAYED it, or do you just buy it to put in same box along other 637 MSX games without playing it?

Of course I have played it. I played lot of time ago with original cassette and original color table protection and now (two days ago) I played again with this BeeCard version (without color table) and that was not the first time I have played with it. I know a few collectors don't play with his games too much but in my case I play with all games that I buy, because I like the games... and I like to use the games and not to conserve in perfect state, well just good use. Hum... where you do get 637 number? Too much games... all original?? |

The music is not as good on the beecard version. They must have needed to save memory

Yes, I can't remember the music quality of the cassette version but BeeCard version is poor.

| and as at last someone says he HAS Jet Set Willy on beecard, then I like to know is there any difference in beecard version compared to original tape version (except maybe different title screen and no loading screen)?
|
The Bee card version of JSW is absolute crap, not only has a much worse music (the same very well-known song used in the spectrum version if I'm not wrong); but it has software sprites only, slow as hell and of course with horrid color bleedings (why the hell the stairs are grey?, there's attribute collision every time willy is climbing). It's a complete new version and sadly totally forgetable.
The tape version, not only uses hardware sprites, the sprites are used very cleverly in a dynamic way. I mean, no more than 4 sprites are used in a room to avoid masking and being the main character a SW sprite, the enemy sprites change from SW to HW sprites when willy approaches, it rocks!

Supossedly is "T-Plan". There're some scans of the card itself on Passion MSX. Take a look here. |
