As maybe you all know, the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence" will include remakes of MSX2 games "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake". There already exist those remakes for Japanese cell phones, and probably Subsistence will include something similar.

The one thing I know will be different from these Japanese mobile phones version is English translation - on phones it's only in Japanese, and Subsistence targets worldwide audience.

Other difference I've heard of is they use pictures of Snake from Metal Gear Solid instead of the original. Also there will be boss mode, when you will be able to choose boss to fight against.

Maybe they will change phrase that Big Boss tells to Solid Snake at the end of 1st game "Switch off your MSX" to "Switch off your phone" or even "Switch off your Playstation" - if I am not mistaken, they already did something similar in "MGS2:Sons of liberty" (somewhere around the point of game when you see "Fission Mailed")

But as you know, in the ending of MG2:SS you have to find an MSX cartridge, that afterwards shows "01K VRAM" while booting, etc. - what Konami is going to do with this part of story ? Will they leave it as is in Subsistence ?

Is there anybody who played mobile phone version of MG2:SS around here ? How this part of story looks in this version of the game ?

Why would they change anything at all for the remakes? Including the "Switch off your 'MSX'."

People who are playing it know that it's a remake from an MSX game, Konami shouldn't make the MSX a hidden factor.

I agree, but I'd like to hear is it right from the person who played mobile phone version.

BTW, reading Konami's forums I can assure you most gamers think these games are coming from NES.

Sad, but very true..

(True that everyone thinks that, not that they are coming from NES.)

that's probably the US audience, who practically grew up with (S)NES in stead of MSX

Oh my god, they call it "convenience".

I don't get it - how calling "MG2:SS" a NES game can be convenient ? Nobody of them ever played it.

What a weird bunch of people.

"That would be wicked awesome! Just imagine how embarrasing it would be for him to get beaten by some American gamers!"

Yeah, let's embarrass and humiliate your hero. That sounds like fun.

Well, given the fact that the collective IQ of the USA is only just above 100, that shouldn't surprise you. apart from that, Kojima may be a gret game developer, that doesn't neccessarily mean he's a great player, too

Subs? don't ya mean Snake Eater? (thaz mg3) (subs was released for PC few years ago already)
and you do know that "01K VRAM" spells "Marv Kio" backwards, don't ya (Marv was a important character in the game)

He's right about "Subsistence". MGS2 for PC was called "Substance". Substance was an extension of Sons of Liberty, the orginal MGS2. Subsistence is an extension upon Snake Eater in the same way.
