Hello, i've been trying to get dsk or roms running on my MSX2 but no luck
I've tried like 12 diffirent tools but none of them seem to work...

Could someone tell me a good way to convert .dsk back to a original disk?

And do i need a HDD or other something else to play rom's on my MSX2, or is it possible with disks only too?

A ROM can be loaded into any MSX using ROMLOAD or EXECROM or a similar program. MegaROMS need to be either cracked or a hand device called a MegaRAM can be used with EXECROM for loading megaROM's.

Disk images can be converted to an original disk using DSKMGR, a handy program by the same chap who wrote RuMSX.

ROMLOAD requires a Konami Sound Cartridge (either Snatcher or SD-Snatcher). LOADROM can load rom images directly into memory, though it might be possible for more complicated usage the game to be incomplete, possibly due to memory size problems.

THe most common reason why some roms don't work on my msx2 is because
I dont have enough ram ...

How much RAM do you have ? 64K, 128K or more ? On 128K machine you can run about 100 "special" versions of 128K roms - they use adavnced techniques to fit this size.

I have 256K RAM

I've tried DSKMGR, but i might be doing it wrong.
I choose open, select a .dsk, then write to disk...but am i supposed to do something else aswell because the game won't boot?

And i don't get LOADROM or EXECROM, i've tried putting them on the disk with the game.
When i type the syntax i either get a read error or it will hang.
I use MSX-DOS1 if that would matter

Tried that one too...they still won't boot.

Is there maybe a special way to format the floppy disks?
I just format them on my MSX

Are you sure your diskdrive is working correctly? (Everything you do seems to be OK.)

yes, when i insert original games on floppy disk it works fine.
And it does read the data on the floppy disks when i enter dir in MSX-DOS.

maybe the one in your PC is broken?
Did you use HD disks? Make sure to cover the hole completely.

What game is that? It could be a game that uses the Kanji ROM. If it's not there (like in any non-Japanese MSX), you get blocks.

The software you are trying to put to real disk: does it work in an emulator?

Is the hole covered up with black tape? not clear tape?

OMG! i just tried it with DD disks and it works
I've used DSKMGR...first formatted with it then wrote data to disk.
I wonder why HD disks don't work well...i don't have many DD disks left...
