Actually it's right ON topic As the TS suggests a poll which asks the question if it should be on. So this answer is kinda preceding a poll

So now its msx 2 compatible for the same price huh ??!! makes you wonder if you wait another 2 months (turbo r compatibel maybe ?). all with all making it msx2 compatibel for the same price make its a lot more interesting ! I think they should have sold there 5000 ocm in time if that was before...I'm thinking now of buying one if there is another chance.

The main difference between msx1 and msx2 is the videochip, which was doable I guess, otherwise it wouldn't work eh.. tR however uses a different main cpu running at a way higher speed .. I dunno if we can expect that from the 1cm ..

But even then, we could wait forever to it to become perfect, or buy it (when we can) and manually update the thing ourself..

however, I agree that it was a bit silly to have a pre-order period ending a few weeks before the 'msx2-out-of-the-box' was announced

Despite current poll about Cover Art is not over yet (I think), next poll could be about Splash screens or Loading screens

Look this beautiful SCREEN 12...

Eh, that image looks almost exactly like that on screen 12
It's suffering a bit from the limitations of that screen mode

lossy format, not free

and yes, I know digital cameras use the format, but there are also camera's use less lossy formats like tiff.

In short: jpg is good for photos but baaaaaaad for anything else.

hummm... good to know

I know jpg loss quality for compresion but I didn't think that were so critical Anyway the image at the emulator (and I guess the same on a real MSX in a monitor or TV) and jpg image captured isn't as different I think... ¬¬

Indeed ! For info : blueMSX gives screenshots in BMP format, that you can easily convert into GIF, JPEG or PNG (I mention only the most known formats) with a graphic editor.

I don't recommend GIF because the quality is generally dubious (but GIF is interesting for animated pictures)

JPEG is better, but in most cases PNG gives a better result with a smaller file.

Just a remark about screen 12 : strangely, the JPEG pictures are smaller than the PNG pictures, so the choice is more difficult for screen 12.

Anyway, by principe, I recommend PNG also for screen 12 and we should implement in the future support for PNG conversion in blueMSX
