Hello

I just tried to run(/emulate) 'solid snail' from the MCCM millenium CD's.
But as soon as it boots it simply hangs...
Can someone provide me and the rest of the world with a working dsk image of the real mccm 82b disk please ?

I heard rumours about several diskimages on the mccm cds to be wrong.
Maybe it is a good idea to start an ips archive somehwere that fixes al the wrong images ?

That wouldn't be a bad idea idd. A very nice and clean legal option for a problem a lot of people seem to have... The only question though, who's gonna go through all those images?

I tried several other Solid Snail images, and they had the exact same problem... IIRC it just shows a white cursor block on the top left of the screen, right?

Isn't the problem caused by the fact that solid snail has compatability issues.
(Doesn't work on a TURBO-R and also worked problematic with some emulators if I remember well )

Well, if such a site would be available it isn't that big of a deal to add a simple list stating which files are already checked.
States would be:

  • unchecked
  • is reserved by XXX at date YYY
  • checked: no patch needed
  • checked: patch needed but not available
  • checked: patch available link to patch

so that everybody who wants to contribute can indicated that he is looking at it.
And if date YYY is to old we will notice that the check by user XX has been abandoned and that we need an other volunteer

Interesting idea that could be extended to wrong files on f...t (bad dumps, non-autostartable disk images, loader with Sony or Philips poke to be replaced by universal poke, and many other problems !!!) :wink

If I'm right I could run my original MCCM 82B disc on the CJS MSX emulator with minor glitches if my memory serves right.
It does run on the NMS 8245 I have over here. Just checked that one.
So that disc is fine. If I have time I will see if I can test if the millenium disc-image to disc also works on the NMS 8245.

Maybe it has a copy protection?

Hey, I just found out that I have the original Solid Snail disk of MCCM 82b and that one works just fine. So the Millennium disk image is corrupt.
