The megaRAM is the only hardware device to use the program ExecROM ????that allow you to execute ROM files on your MSX1, MSX2, MSX2+ or MSX Turbo R.
which other carttridges is it also possible to run roms with execrom..?
padial msx? i dont know which one

Now we on the subject...I have a 1024k memorymapper, can i use this as an alternative for this megaram or am i too optimistic ? |

I have never had execROM work with any other device other than a MegaRAM, although from MSX-DOS it is possible to run a 8k, 16k, or 32k ROM image.
I know of no other device that, apart from the ESE-SCC cartridge that will allow you to run Mega ROM images. I have one of those too - but it is faulty! I use the SCC part inconjuntion with my MegaRAM. The MegaRAM will not allow the SCC cartridge to function correctly if they are in the same slot/sub slot.
I have a 512k MegaRAM, very useful for playing MG2, I havent managed to get R-Type to work yet.

Have you used the R-TYPE ROM that was modified to work with MegaRAM?
I have only succeeded to run R-TYPE using my MegaFlashSCC cartridge. But it is really a nice game, whatever anyone might say. And it demonstrates what can be done even in MSX using a C compiler. The only thing that I do not like that much about R-TYPE is that the FM sound is worse than the PSG sound. I prefer the PSG BSO, it is more "solid".

Hi Robsy - one day I shall visit you in Barcelona! R-type loads ok with the patch file, but crashes at the end of the first stage.

With the MegaFlashSCC cartridge you can play msxroms?

Good question, Padial does some products, although I am not 100% sure of these. I got one of his slot expanders, which worked very well - apart from the face that I could not use the cartridges in there housing. I have a DDX slot expander courtesy of Ginseng, it works very well. It is more of a case of look for a second hand one.

Is it possible to use in msx usb gamereader and is it possible to execute romfiles to my msx usb gamereader? i never tried that..or you need a real msx system to execute the roms and the read the rom in msx usb game reader?
is it possible to write in msx usb game reader with this item or msxmegaflash?? |

The megaRAM is non-volatile - the memory disappears when power is lost - in short no you couldn't!
I dont see any problem with a flash memory - but I have never tried it.
