Generic MSX2+ config in openMSX

I was wondering if there'd be a generic MSX2+ config for openMSX - one with all the advantages of MSX2+ and the advantage of a 'normal' keyboard layout. Which is really important to me, as I can't get to the underscore key and I'd hate to remap the whole keyboard (remapping 1 key is just too much for me - I don't know how to do it for starters, but it freaks me out when I push a key and I see a character appear of which the sign is different).

Note that the non-conforming Japanese/European layout isn't really my biggest problem - I tend to look to the screen as I type. But there's just some keys that are missing in the US keyboard layout. I wanna use openMSX as if it were a real one ... By the way - I don't mind if it's a European MSX turboR computer either... I just need the 2+ for my laptop, which is far too slow to emulate turboR.

Well, thanks for reading the whole story and cheers to you all

_ = SHIFT+right control...

though I could dump the ROMs in my modified MSX2 to MSX2+ which has the for us known layout...

If you use the Boosted MSX2, you also have an MSX2+, but without the MSX Basic 3.0 ROMs. So, if you don't care for MSX2+-Basic, you can just use the Boosted MSX2 as an MSX2+. I didn't make it a Boosted MSX2+ just because of the fact that it messes up your keyboard when using those Japanese ROMs.

For the turboR there is the same problem, but there you can easily use the IPS patch which basically transforms it into a European machine. Maybe someone can make those for a typical set of MSX2+ ROMs as well? That way, we can use those, with the IPS patch applied if you use a US English keyboard.

Bifi's suggestion is also an option of course, but I'd prefer an IPS patch, as it's more flexible.

BiFi, thanks in advance, but I haven't been able to locate your Patch archive... http://bifi.msxnet.org/ips/ doesn't seem to work, neither does http://ips.msx.nu/ . Where do I go to?

Nice detail: my laptop doesn't *have* a right-ctrl key. So there's no way I'm ever gonna see that underscore there

maybe ips.tni.nl?

Btw, bifi, the subrom patch is 15k, while the original file is 16k! how can that be?

the patch is based on the nms8250 roms... which apparently has too much differences between the MSX2 and MSX2+ subroms...

and bifi.msxnet.org/ips/ doesn't exist since the existence of ips.msx.nu... which has gone as well due to the msx.nu domain issues...

Google knows all...
