Nokia phones play "SSHHHHH" sound always when sound chip is active. You normally don't hear it as sound chip is typically on only when application is playing a sound.

Sorry... I just tried. BT keyboard works only in menus. |

Thanks for testing, NYYRIKKI. Could it be that the BT keyboard does not send separate "key down" and "key up" events? Is it possible to remap controls in the menu using the BT keyboard?

Perhaps the upcoming Nokia E61 or E70 would help? And before you ask: no, current version of fMSX/S60 doesn't work on either one of those because of the new OS version, I'll need to upgrade the emulator later on once I get either device to play with...

Oh, sorry for the wrong information! The problem was, that I had disabled the use of keyboard by changeing all keys to <none> in Control setup. Now the BT keyboard works just fine!
Hey, this is actually cool!

Well, not that fine... Damn it is hard to map all the keys back to "right" positions... expetially since my MSX ROM's have different layout as in Control setup. Is there any simple way to restore "factory defaults"? (like delete file x from location y) Reinstallation didn't help...
Do you still have plans to implement multiple keyboard layout support?

Well... the only way to restore default settings is to delete the file that contains all emulator settings. Hmmm... forgot the name and don't have the source code here on my Mac, but it's under the /system/apps/fmsx folder somewhere, the name is something like fmsx.cfg. If you delete that file the next time you launch the emulator all settings are reset to defaults. I know, there should be a better way to do it.
With multiple keyboard support I suppose you mean game specific keyboard layouts, or...?
shinwano, there must be something wrong with your phone then, I've tested the emulator on a 6680 and the sound is recognizable. Does changing the sound volume in the emulator have any effect?

Well... I think, that optimal solution would be having something like 5 different programmable default keyboard layouts, and if the game in question really has so weird keyboard usage, that none of the default keyboard setups works, you could save a game specific layout. It would be good idea to use different files for each setup so, that layout file could be send to a friend as well. ie for XYZ.ROM you could save XYZ.KEY
I for example like to keep "pause" function in phones "C" key, but if I use BT keyboard, I would like to have backspace as well. Now when ever I disconnect/connect BT keyboard I need to reconfigure the keyboard layout.

NYYRIKKI's idea sounds brilliant to me. Play Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake: primary button (space) and a secondary (M+N) can be defined, a third one combining one and two is particularly useful to get prone. Play Dahku, the alternative/secondary button will be the SHIFT key, and so on... I now have a key config like: left action button is primary button (SPACE+Z), right action button is secondary button (M+N+SHIFT+GRAPH+RETURN+X) and the C-button is RETURN+SHIFT+M+N+SPACE. I must say, it works pretty good. The take-a-photo-button serves as the emulator pause button - things couldn't be more perfect with my 6260 ... The Edit-button seems undefinable though... :\ |

jr, try metal gear 1 .. as soon as you kill someone the sound gets so loud that you cant hear the game anymore.
in the beginning it is very low.
then it gets louder and lower depending on what pitch of sound was last made by the game.
i dont think the phone has a problem..
my brother has a 6680 too.. i tried it on his and the same thing happened.
my friend has a 3230,, i tried it on his, too (same)
the only phone i have and didnt try yet is the N70,,
but i doubt it would make a difference.
any help would be very appreciated

D-Tail, perhaps the problem with the "edit" key is that in reality it's a shift key. It should work as any other key, though, but perhaps this somehow affects the way the OS is treating it. I'll try to implement the support for multiple keyboard layouts for the next version - I've already done a "reset defaults" command.
shinwano, I'll try MG1 on my 6630 next week when I'm back to my development environment to see how it behaves. Anyway, the problem sounds very strange, I don't remember running into it before.
