Hi!

I recently bought a XGA converter, and hooked it up on my NMS 8250. Everything works well, when staying in PAL mode. But NTSC only shows a b/w screen on my CRT (Same situation for my PSone...)
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Perhaps connecting the MSX2 with S-VHS? Unfortunately my MSX2 doesn't have a S-VHS connector out-of-the-box. :-/

This will not work. NTSC requires not only setting the right things in the software but also requires the RGB to composite video hardware inside the MSX to be modified, like color carrier frequency etc. That is why you see a black and white picture. Same applies to your PSP. Even if your converter accepts NTSC, the MSX-2 cannot output NTSC compliant composite video colours.
Note that S-VHS/S-Video is also suffering from the same hardware restrictions. In fact S-Video is the same as composite but with color and intensity signals on two separate wires, the color carrier is the same.
You can watch NTSC on a RGB monitor with the NMS8250. So get yourself a RGB monitor, or get a TV with RGB inputs (any modern respectable tv in Europe with SCART for example).
