Will it be possible to have CPC/MSX interoperability
for applications running in SymbOS?
I mean the same application working on both systems?

Yes, as I said, in general applications don't need to be adapted.
I didn't touch any of the existing applications yet, so just have a look at the last screen shot for the proof, that it's really working

@Dvik: Would it be possible to emulate the Obsonet ethernet extension in BlueMSX??

Wow, I've seen now last screenshot. As many people says... this is a great mature OS and it's great to see that thanks to the API we can use in CPC and MSX the same apps! Well, I am really very very happy with this work. See how great apps have Symbos... http://www.symbos.de/apps.htm (Including multimedia great apps!)

About SymChat, hope there will be rs-232 and obsonet support.

Finallly, Prodatron, can you do a little video?

This SymChat is really bothering me a big time. There seems to be no information in apps page... Do you really have some sort of TCP/IP support inside or how does this work???

@NYYRIKKI: I just started with SymChat some weeks ago on the CPC ( http://www.symbos.de/files/symchat.gif ). Currently there is not much functionality. I was waiting for a new ethernet hardware for the CPC, before I wanted to finish SymChat. This hardware has an IP stack included, so on the CPC there would be no need to implement an IP stack. On the MSX there is another situation. So there is still some work to do for SymChat.
@SPL: Ok, let me optimize some things and fix some bugs, and then I will make a video

Obsonet is quite high on our todo list so hopefully we can get started. We've collected some documentation and made a high level design but not yet started coding. But its hopefully comming pretty soon.

hm... so close to windows regarding style ... do we actually wish for windows-keys?

(may become more of a point @ OCM where we obviously plug-in a typical USB keyboard... *with* windows keys ..)

Dank je wel, Legacy
Regarding windows keys: For opening the startmenu you can always use control+esc.
Btw, I use the "Graph" key as ALT. So as an example GRAPH+F4 closes the actual window.
We may discuss the key layout in general, I should post the actual one soon.
Please be a little bit patient with a video. I will record and upload one until saturday or sunday. I really want to get rid of some bugs first...

better is to use normaly useless key

one of them is the SELECT

that key is normaly not used anyway.

now, you can convine STOP+SHIFT for then equivalent of CTRL+ALT+DEL

any other key is usefull

Well, flyguille, a key is usefull or not under a sytem or OS. Maybe graph in Symbos can be used as ALT key, because I think that Graph characters of basic or DOS are not available. Code can be used also.

I choosed graph as ALT because of its position.
Currently there is:
Select=F6
Stop=F7
Clr/Home=F8

Btw, does anyone know, what's the best way to detect the amount of memory? SymbOS seems to detect too much memory (576K), but BlueMSX should only have 512K.

From map.tni.nl:

Detecting the amount of available memory can be done by writing a unique value into all mapper pages and iterating through them until you see repetition. If the repetition e.g. occurs after 8 pages, there is 128k of RAM available. Usually, you will want to do this with interrupts disabled and also want to restore the original values.

There is also info about FDC's there.

On a MSX computer, F6 is actually Shift+F1, F7 = Shift+F2, F8 = Shift+F3, F9=Shift+F4 and F10 = Shift+F5.
