ohw sure, I can post the .cas file tonight. No problem. You will have to defeat Metal Gear as it wont save after that. And poke, don't be so picky It's not exactly worldnews but it's fun anyway, ain't it?

Today I could actually be bothered, and here are the results:

Tested on a Sony HB-F700P

Right stairs: when they end, you cannot go any further
Middle stairs: when they end, you cannot go any further
Left stair: goes all the way up until the ending bit

I think we can safely conclude that the original cartridge plays fine and without the errors you encountered

What concern the emulators, you need still to try openMSX

Although blueMSX is not perfect, I think that in this case its more likely that the rom dump is not perfect. But of course it could be a bug in the emulators. Anyone tried it in openMSX or NLMSX?

Would be interesting to find out why its not working correctly in the emus. Maybe Konami is doing some trick with the cart at the ending or something. If its a bug in the emus I'd like to fix it and even if its not, it would be good to know what the problem is.

Maybe it's easier to make a savegame with Game Master 2, right before the ladders appear. You can save at any time with GM2. It's explained in the HOWTO that I wrote recently: http://forum.openmsx.org/viewtopic.php?t=98

Thats a good idea. The GameMaster SRAM works fine in both blueMSX, openMSX and a real GameMaster iirc so that way it would be easier to try.
