BodyHammeR: are you sure you took the left-most pixel of the right and middle stairs to check? I mean, Rataplan stated that positioning Snake is of importance, so... I can hardly believe that it's an emulator related bug. Must be either Konami f00king up or some wicked hacked version with which this 'workaround for ending the game properly' occurs.

But I suppose OpenMSX works with the cas files too, isn't it? Btw I used the rom from the GoodROM set, and Bluemsx recognises it as such (according the statusline which shows the romname)

if the real thing doesn't continue at the end of the stairs and the emulators do, then there's a bug in the emulators... easy as that...

Rataplan: yeah, openMSX can handle the cas file, but as you said, you need to play quite a long part after that save point. When using GM2, you can avoid that and still use the savegame on BlueMSX, openMSX and real MSX.

play long?! only blow up metal gear, send four shots @ big boss and done
But to be honest, i never used the save option of gamemaster. But I don't care going through that last part of the game again, as I really love the music there
@bifi: that's obvious, but now I want to know if every emu does that |

[D-Tail]: thanks for mentioning that, I forgot about that aspect
Anyway, more results:
openMSX 0.6.0 / Sony HB-F1 / Metal Gear (Japanese GoodMSX2)
AND
Sony HB-F700P with genuine European Metal Gear cart (more thorough this time )
->
If you take the the edge of the stairs (not the center) you can indeed 'ghostclimb' your way up to the end demo!
I had to do some juggling around while playing the real cart in order to climb the edge, but it gives the same result as Rataplan stated in his original post.
Now this raises a different issue: Did Konami sent part of it's Metal Gear MSX2 team to meet the fishes after this freakyness managed to get past the testing department? |

cool So after all it indeed seems that Jenifers brother set you up with false information! It is not only the right ladder you can take. I'll remember that when I meet him again.
Also it is clear that we are spoiled with the quality of emulators we have available They even emulate the original bugs
once again though I am astounded by the quality of this game in only 128KB. It's quite big, the story is good, the graphics are very good, I am still in love with its soundtrack... wow |

Rataplan: go ahead, shoot him
By the way, what was the sequence to destroy Metal Gear again? Or am I swearing now? R, R, L, R, L, L, R, L, L, R, R, L, R, L, R, ... In order. Even after all those years, I still remember good ol' Doctor Petrovich |

I'm working on an addition for Metal Gear 1. Do you get the ID cards successively or is it possible to have (for example) cards 1, 2 and 4 and get card 3 later?

don't know if its going to happen this time. dont think so, but if it does appear, it'll be the subsitence version probably.
I just hope they dont mess up the original MG's when making the PAL ps2 version.
I could get the NTSC version, but then MG online wouldn't work.
