Just a question about this game...

Enemy waves are chosen randomly by the game, or are they defined inside the game code?

If the last option holds true, how can the game keep sending enemy waves forever?

Thanks in advance!

Make a loop?

Yes, but that would not be an ever-hard game. If the game loops, there'll be a time when it'll become easier.

You asked: how can it send enemy waves forever? Well, with a loop

A wave of enemies for a shooter can be easily defined with just a pair of bytes (or less)

The question was what the game Hype uses... I guess it's a random thing with a bit too many options leading to the same enemy waves.

I let Hype running alone in BlueMSX, using the immunity cheat, and using the emulator full speed. After seeing the game up to zone 100, my guess is that the game uses loads of pre-defined enemy waves and some randomicity to choose which wave it will send against the player.

Its much harder to do it than I thought. I need to study hard all the enemy behaviors, note down all the waves and then create a random pattern that at least resembles the original game.

Probably I won´t do it for the compo.

Wise choice... Hype deserves a remake!
I am looking forward to play it!

As I said, I probably won't. I have the faintest idea of how to remake it.
I need to analyse all enemy patterns, which is not so hard, and then creating loads of enemy waves just like the original and then trying to use randomicity to create a wave order just like the original.

To put it simple, a game like Hype seems easy to create, but impossible to IMITATE.
