i recently stumbled on this great little tool on this page:

DiskExplorer v1.65 By Junnno

Not to be mixed up with:

JP gobler's Disk explorer and
Runtime's DiskExplorer

although it's a bit buggy. you can open and edit the HDD .dsk format easily.
With simple a drag an drop you can import and export files and directory's(Which i think is a big plus compared to MSX diskmanager.) So if you're working with HDD images a lot, you should definitly give it a try and maybe share some experiences with this program.

unfortunatly you can't make new images, so you have to have one fully functional disk image with partitions and all. After that it's easy just open the disk image with the "vmware plain disk" option select the partition(if you got more than one) and you're ready to go.

Nice discovery

A very useful tool that can be combined with advanced emulators like blueMSX or openMSX !

If all else fails, you can still use the diskmanipulator commands in the openMSX console of course

For duplicating your MSX HD / CF for emulator I recommend Dubaron DiskImage

ro : if you are very fast to edit your post, you can almost delete it : just replace all the text by "." or "deleted' and that's all

[a little bit off topic]@ nyyrikki How's it going with FFDEMU support for IDE ? Since you got the source back by a wonder(except for the hairs) I'm looking forward for a release of this.[/a little bit off topic]

Yeah, well... It's still in my TODO list. I wrote the support for it, but there is some weird things happening in Sunrice ROM, that causes crash after startup. I'll need to check out what is happening in there...
