It's been quite a while since we held a megapoll on the MRC, but this one was worth the wait. This time, we are going to look at the event (or events) that shaped the MSX computer and its community to become what it is today. In order to accomplish that, we're going to ask you to send in your nominations first.

So what exactly are we looking for? Well... that could be virtually anything. It could be both positive and negative, it could be the release of a game or demo, but also a magazine or website, or a single or more MSX fairs/meetings. "The release of Metal Gear" would, for instance, be just as good a nomination as "MCM Magazine", "Microsoft leaving the MSX standard" or "The MSX fairs in Tilburg and Zandvoort from 1990 to 1997". You can send in your nominations right here. In order to keep things a bit clear, please keep the following 'rules' in mind:
  • Send in one nomination at a time
  • Motivate your nomination by telling why you feel it was an essential event for the MSX (community) at that point in time
  • Although megapolls should have many nominations, please try not to overdo it with your nominations. In this megapoll, it's really the quality that counts and not the quantity
So, what were - according to you - the historical events that gave the MSX computer its character, or the MSX community its pride. What games, tools or demos took the MSX computer to the next level and/or which fairs, websites or magazines have deeply affected the way people experience MSX? This round of nominations closes on September 18th, 23:59 CET. Good luck!

---
Example of a valid nomination:
Quote:

Nomination: The release of Metal Gear 1
Why: The game did not only proved to be one of the best MSX games ever, it also changed the shape of the gaming industry with a radically new approach to military shooting games: Tactical Espionage. Even to date, the game is one of the most important series in the gaming industry, still introducing new people to the MSX computer system.

---

Nominations without a motivation ('why') will not be considered as valid nominations. You are not only allowed to nominate events, but also to suggest changes to motivations which correct or complement these motivations. I'm really looking forward to this one so... lets get those nominations going!

Nom: end of MCCM
Why: It marked the start of the silent years and the end of the active years. While the scene and activity was already declining at that point, the end of MCCM still was a painful confirmation of what we already knew..
