ok
it took the HD from an XBOX (after i unlocked it)
the hd works
i can partition it
format
put new stuff on it
i repartitioned it using fdisk310.com /fat16
works
2 partitions of 32 MB fat12
3 partitions of 2 GB
all working
i put the HD on my PC and put a SHITload worth of roms and DSK files on it
i put it on the IDE interface
and yes
its all there
but
as soon as i want to copy something new on those partitions the "busy" led will flash for a while (30 seconds) and then the system hangs
i tried on 3 8250's (one of them being my new super MSX)
all the same error
whats the matter???

isn't it too much?
I could imagine something with MSX not understanding Gigabytes.
btw... super 8250 MSX? I have one of those... It comes from Repair-Bas, I assume?

If your PC runs windows, there's a big chance that it messed up the partitions... I know it did that to AuroraMSX's FAT16 partition on a CF card.

yup
from repair bas
manuel
i can read the roms
if i copy some of those roms to another 2 GB partition they work
maybe its a limitation of the number of files on the HD?

Ah, note that the root directory has a limited number of files. Try moving them to a subdirectory!

That sort of stuff just happens. I have/had it too when I made e.g. a new subdir on a FAT16 partition. It hangs for a couple of seconds, and after that all seems to work fine. Most (all?) of the time, it's just the first access. Dunno what it is, but I can live with it |

Yup. Windows seems to insist that all partitions are made equal. That is: FAT32
On the other hand, after that PC foobared my CF, I couldn't even read it on my MSX, so I guess that is not Oeioei's problem.., |
