There we are. The final round of voting in our forum on the 'Most essential MSX event' megapoll. We started with 78 nominees, and only 4 of them get to end up on our frontpage poll. In 5 rounds, we narrowed the selection down to 8 entries. To help you in these four difficult choices, here is a list of the remaing nominees and the reasons why they were nominated. Please read it first, carefully, and don't hesitate too look back at this list later on.

Quote:

Nom: Konami
Why: This company basically made the MSX system into what it is still known for nowadays, and many of their game franchises still popular today had their roots or some of their early installments on this computer. They were also superior to everyone else on the MSX, which they never quite achieved in such a way on any other system...and I doubt anyone else ever did.

Nom: MSX turboR
Why: Finally the long waited new CPU for MSX! Made MSX the most advanced 8-bit platform... again!

Nom: Release of MSX2
Why: Made MSX most advanced 8-bit platform.

Nom: Compile
Why: Brought some amazing releases (like the already mentioned Aleste 2), introduced the concept of Disk magazines and supported MSX for a very, very, very long time

Nom: MSX disk drive
Why: Read/Write random access media gave new speed to MSX development, game loading and piratism. No more shitting around with tapes.

Nom: V9938
Why: First hardware accelerated video chip on 8-bit computers.

Nom: Sunrise
Why: creation, maintaining and sales of new and interesting hardware, offered gameproduction (box, manual, sales) to the scene & the best known diskmagazines.

Nom: Japan software houses
Why: For all the great games

Got it? Great! Below is a list of 4 pairs. Your job is to divide three points between each pair. So with the pair

option A | option B

the following scores are valid:

3 - 0 ;option A | option B
2 - 1 ;option A | option B
1 - 2 ;option A | option B
0 - 3 ;option A | option B

It is NOT permitted to give halve points [yup, only non-negative integers are allowed!], the total points divided each pair HAS to be 3 points. You will have to make this decision each pair, until you completed the entire list. Mixing pairs with others is not allowed. Only completely valid submissions will be counted.

So all you have to do to vote is join the MRC, log in and fill in the votesheet below. This second round closes at October 12th, 23:59 CET. Happy voting!

Excellent vote, Sonic_aka_T

Due to my away-ness I wasn't able to turn in my vote for the 5th round. Could I send it in now? I'd like to rule out Konami
