Hello,

I'm interested in SUNRISE CF IDE INTERFACE but i wonder to know if:

* Are there stockage?
* Will be compatible with my MSX-1 VG8020 without Diskdrive?
* Will give my MSX-1 the power of MSX-DOS?
* Could execute ROMS put previously inside the CF? or i will need to execute via MSX-DOS with some Loader?
* How much cost this product?
* How many time do you need for serving the product?

Thank you very much.

* Are there stockage?

Ask Rob Hiep, sunhisan at euronet dotty nl.

* Will be compatible with my MSX-1 VG8020 without Diskdrive?

You can't use it like that, as you can't put any files on it, unless you use your PC.
I don't remember completely if it needs a diskROM. If it does, you can't use it.

* Will give my MSX-1 the power of MSX-DOS?

Any MSX with diskdrive and 64k RAM can run MSX-DOS, but I wouldn't call it powerful.

* Could execute ROMS put previously inside the CF? or i will need to execute via MSX-DOS with some Loader?

Depends on how you formatted it. You can't use the CF as some kind of ROM cartridge. YOu would need a loader, but that will load it in normal RAM. So, little chance that you can run anything bigger than 48k.

* How much cost this product?

It's on the site: http://www.msx.ch/sunformsx

It's 63.55 euros, according to the price list there.

* How many time do you need for serving the product?

Ask Rob!

nerlaska: you could of course try the safe way and find some cheap MSX2 w/ disk drive on eBay. I bet you'll manage to get a proper one for less than $50 - that is, a Philly 8245 or 8250 (or up). You wouldn't need to worry about having a diskROM and running DOS (2!) anymore

The latest version of the IDE firmware does not need a diskROM to be present in the MSX anymore.
Sunrise has confirmed that several times, both here on the fora and IRL.
So, the answer would be: yes, you can use your (CF)-IDE in an MSX-1 without diskdrive.
But... that MSX1 does need to have enough RAM in a memory mapper.

[edit]
And I just checked the openMSX machines list and it seems that the VG-8020 has 64K of non-mapped RAM. Bummer.
