Finally got my hands on another great piece of msx hardware : a moonsound cartridge

Unfortunately it's one of the first batch with only 128kb memory.

I would like to have an memory expansion done but don't know what's ecxactly possible.

Is 640kb the maximum or is 1024kb also possible ?

2MB is possible, but there's only a handful o' ppl with 2MB, 640KB was a suggested 'standard' by me, but it might very well be that sunrise sells them with 1MB default (has to do with certain chips being cheaper, even if they're bigger) Contact sunrise about the request!

As far as I know Sunrise for MSX still does Moonsound memory upgrades, contact them for more information.

EDIT: Trust Wolf_ to post -just- before I hit the submit button!

I've contacted Sunrise by e-mail

Will 640kb be enough for all available software or do I need more ?

For now, yes. MRC challenges went up to 512KB, and will go up to 640KB. And for the rest, there isn't much software for large wavekits anyway. In any case, if you can get 1MB for the same price .. then take 1MB of course..

Does someone know the type of 512kb chips needed for the upgrade ?

Is there a 'how to do it yourself' guide available maybe

Wouldn't it be more practical to bring your Moonsound to Nijmegen, you could perhaps prepare a sale like this with sunrise an have it fixed by Koen @ sunrise..

I'm probably not able to go to nijmegen but I think it will be better indeed to let sunrise perform the upgrade.
I will wait for them to reply on my e-mail.
