The problem with my TurboR power supply is a general one, probably caused by my american 240->110/120V converter - a little bit too much, as the japanese TurboR expects 100V (there was a discussion in another thread here about this topic). So don't worry, it's not MP3MSX specific!
Yes, SymbOS needs its own low level disc routines, as MSX-DOS is not existing anymore and its routines wouldn't work in the SymbOS environment, as it is a different operating system. So not SymAmp accesses the disc directly but the OS does it. |

Okay, i see. Maybe it is interesting to know the consumption of the MP3 cartridge anyway, i wondered some time ago when i noticed its temperature... It takes almost 100mA @ 5V and 50mA @ 12V. The -12V is not used, so the total power is 1.1W.

Yesterday i tried an external harddrive and updated the FLASH of the IDE adapter to 2.4 (i was still using 2.1). The CF card i am using is 1Gb, there is a limit of about 500Mb, the HD is 1.6Gb and crashes after 800Mb. So it seems when you reach 50% of the volumesize that the MSX crashes. Does this sound familiar?
I will make an image of the HD to check the clustersize and the usage of it, i cannot imagine that nobaby noticed this before, i cannot find anything about this problem on internet. But maybe it is the first time that we really need large drives for MP3 files.

I use a 1Gb CF with 2 partitions, 32MB fat12 and 968MB fat16, and I do not have problems....
I use idefdisk with /FAT16 option to create the partition.
(fat12 partition is not visible under windows ) |

Because it is 1 cluster too big. IDEFDISK is not following the FAT specifications, and so the FAT12 partition should already be a FAT16 one. But as it isn't Windows detects it as a faulty one and doesn't show it. |

For these (especially in Spain) who are interested in a live presentation of the MP3MSX card: You should come to the RetroEuskal in Bilbao this weekend. For more details see this posting:

It also seems, that the card is available again in autumn, so watch out! |
