I'm triying to play Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake in fMSX for Symbian Series 60 (in my N-Gage QD).
I downloaded all the required system roms.
But the game starts with no sound!.
What version of the BIOS ROMS I need to play it with sound?.
Thanks.

I don't think BIOS ROMs are related to your sound problem.

Whipon: you should select "Konami5 SCC" or "Konami4 SCC" (dunno which anymore) in the mapper type block in the menu where you selected the ROM. You should have some sound effects though. Be also sure your phone isn't in silent mode, or uncheck the option 'obey silent mode'. Good luck! |

The phone isn't in silent mode. I was triying to play the DSK version of Metal gear 2 translated to spanish and it has no sound. Then I tried the ROM version with SCC translated to spanish and the system goes in a MSX BASIC screen and the game never loads up. Finally I tried with the english ROM version and it plays with full sound support.
I have a few questions: Whats the diference between the DSK and ROM versions?. The DSK has more graphic/sound quality? I answer this because the DSK has 720 kb and the ROM has 512 kb.
How can I play DSK games with sound in this emulator?.
Thanks for the info.

The DSK image contains a cracked version of the ROM. Because the size of a disk is 720KB, the image is larger than the rom.

Whipon: you should act as if there was an SCC expansion inserted. I'm not too sure anymore about how to do that. About image/ROM sizes: the disk also contains a loader and some convenient data format, which makes the contents of the disk a little over 512kB also. I don't know what it is about the Spanish version. I'm Dutch, I never tried it. Anyway, good luck |
