Japanese version is very good for me: ac adaptor is an universal 110-220v and does it work fine for all countries.
For me RoSH introduce only a commercial shield for Europe to reduce import of electronic products: no real benefit for the pollution!!

I've just read *carefully* the email from Bazix. They have been very clear. The wait is killing me but I have decided that I will buy the edition for the western market (I'm tired of users manuals in Japanese ).

Last news I heard was that the Japanese version was nearly sold out. So it could be sold out by now. Which may have something to do with reserving some of the new batch for a Japanese "special edition".

Dissapointed... but I'll wait for news, as the newsletter says, the OCM is an "unique computer that is worth the wait"

The hardware design of the One Chip MSX is currently under investigation and alteration. . . . This modified One Chip MSX, produced for distribution on the Western market, is likely to be distributed as a 'limited edition' in Japan as well.

Is it the rest of the batch not sold in the Western market to be sold as a 'limited edition' in Japan? Or do they investigate for another japanese batch there, RoHS complient? Most important, can we still come up with preorders?

I am still wondering, if it wouldn't be cheaper (150$) and much faster to take a board like this...

...port the core and build an MSX slot adapter for its extension ports.

This letter sounds to me that Japanese are going to produce a "cheaper" version of the OCM.
I hope they do not distribute a "donwgraded" or an incomplete version (lets say, less connectors or less exandability...), i mean, a "slightly" reduced version... but, who knows, Japanese ususlly do what they like...

Although I don't think that casing is most important thing I must say that it gives first impression of the device for anyone who sees it. I think, that transparent blue was bad enough... When my stuff is working I don't want to see inside my television, VCR, microwave, DVD player or MSX! If I could select I would like to have it black.

I hope that next "update" will not be sending the device without casing. Although it does not have effect to outlook it would make it more sensiteve to dust and cola.

I like the blue transparent case. A TV, DVD player or microwave can't be compared to the OCM because they are way bigger.

I'm also intrigued about the new case, if it is going to be transparent again the only colours that I can imagine that could suit are blue or colourless... and what about its shape? is it going to be the same?

On the other hand it is not surprising that there is a reserve list, 500 units are very few units for the western market...
