KSS Question

Hi, I'm Akumu

I'm trying to get a more complete collection of my msx games in KSS, lately i got the msx down from the attic and been quite obsessed with the music.

There are mainly 3 games i'm wanting kss's from, i have one game here incase i need to convert it and send to someone but the 2 others are long lost so i can't supply a rom\dsk\cas, unless they are hiding in another box somewhere

The game that i got here is Emphasys's rune master clone DuckTales (which has the most awful voice sample in it's main theme) but generally good music

the 2 others i can't find are Sunrise's Witch's Revenge and Pumpkin Adventure 3 (I contacted Sunrise about buying these again so in a few weeks i can supply them if someone can convert into KSS if they don't exist yet)

So are these 3 games made into a KSS? If not is it possible to request them somewhere? I apologize if these kinds of question are not tolerated here.

I also run a site called Akumu's NSF Archive, which hosts NES nsf's, it will be updated this week because i am so far behind with updates on it

Thanks
Akumu

AFAIK at least these last two games have MoonBlaster music, so check if you can find *.MBM files from these disks and if you do, run them trough MBM2KSS.

It might be that the files are renamed to something else, these files are compressed or that there is no filesystem on these disks. In this case it's a bit harder task. (Hmm... at least PA3 must have filesystem as IIRC it was HD compatible)

Hey NYYRIKKI,... just the one I want to "speak" right now.
Why o why does kssplay not support SCC/SCC+ ?
Can we fix that ?

@Akumu
Welcome to this forum.
Nice site btw. For some reason I always check for FF when I'm visiting a NSF site... up till three, nice.
Think i can help you but spare time is always a problem.
Ohh, it's against site policies to ask or to offer non legal software here.
But most of use know the ways where to get it ..

Thank you Shaiwa, glad you like the site, it is being redesigned right now so updates take some while, but they are coming

NYYRIKKI, the problem is that the blue disks are gone, i cannot find them anywhere so i can't convert anything, the only game i did find was ducktales, but i will reacquire the sunrise games soon if there is no kss made.

Akumu, i've got Witch's Revenge and Pumpkin Adventure 1 to 3 original so that won't be a problem (nice games though) and i'm sure i've got Ducktales somewhere.
Never played Ducktales, didn't know it is some kind of rune master clone?

It still unclear to me if msx.org allows this. In my opinion it's not requesting illegal software.
But i'm happy someone does do kss requesting, more ppl should do that.

@shaiwa
To implement SCC support would require implementing also Konami mapper. This is not very hard, but because the mapper is controlled trough memory and not I/O it would slow down the emulation so much that it would not make sense. I think it's slow enough already.

Thanks NYYRIKKI but that wasn't the anwer I was looking for but it explains the why.
But as you said, it was very slow when I tried.

So i guess the question now is, is there anywhere to request new kss files to be made?

Patience Akumu, i've had a rough last week. (and kss makers are rare )
I'm working on Ducktales, it's not realy a tough one but i aways try to use the original replayer but that sometimes takes some time.

Also looked at Pumpkin Adventure II but i haven't got the "millenium disc" version working. (anyone have a solution ??)

Pfhhh .. tell me someting new.
But that copy protection wasn't supposed to be there isn't it?
Now the whole image does not work, bumber...

Now i'm stuck with 500MB on trace log's so this one is gonna take some time also.
(btw, the files seems to have some encryption also)

I think PA2 uses plain old MoonBlaster songs, though, so you could get them from the disk and play them in Moonblaster (or a replayer). Note that the PA2 tunes are not very good... IMHO, they're very dull.

If you want interesting FM music from the NL, check the music of Shrines of Enigma. GREAT songs!

PA3 has also cool musics, as does LostWorld (only FM though)... Akin is worth checking out as well, but I'm afraid Cas/Parallax used some own format.
