Hello

I installed a PC-Drive (1.44) no jumbers at alle.
I connected pin 34 on the drive to gnd
It works perfect, it can read disks, it can see when the disk is out
and when i put in a new disk it knows that is a noter disk etc.

every thing works but only as B:

Files"A:" only gives disk offline

Files"B:" shows the direcorty (after it promted med to set disk b and strike any key)

I use a standard pc-flatcable 1-1....34-34, no cross over exept i changed wire 10 to wire 12 and wire 12 to 10). Before i did the change about 10/12 and 12/10 excactly the same problem?

What must i do?

When i look at some informations about pc drives, it seems complete wrong to swap 10/12.

10=Motor Enable Drive-0
12=Drive Sel.1
14=Drive Sel.0
16=Motor Enable Drive-1

So maybe i should swap 12/14 instead ?

Yes, I remember when I replaced my vg8245 floppy with a pc version, I had to swap Drive sel. 0 and Drive sel. 1. Can't hurt to try at least.
Good luck!

Take a look here or here

About the possibility of find a non-compatible drive take a look a this Spectrum+3 page, where is explained the reason why some drives could not work (I've never find one myself).

Hi. finaly it seems to work. i found out i have put the cable the wrong way. So by swapping pint 10/12 on the cable. i got it working for drive a. And i solder pin 33 to pin 34.

The drive that works is a "Tech Media" Model TFD310. I think its pretty old, but it works

I the tried with a Teac 235 i think the name is, but it cant work ? I also tried to connect 33+34 here but not same success ?

Now the problem is to make it fit into the braket in the svi738
