When will the space manbow 2 be available for purchase?I am sure it is going to be one of the most awaited msx games for some time now.

With proper distribution and marketing I think Space Manbow 2 actually could give some profit. I think it has potential to sell 1000+ copies with a net profit of 10 euro per copy. The original Space Manbow is one of the best MSX games and by looking at the videos of SM2 I think this game is even better. I don't think its unreasonable that one of ten people that bought the OCM also will buy SM2 with good marketing.

Well, perhaps I take this back. I heard rumors that the game only runs in 50Hz, so the biggest portion of the market which is Japan won't be available I guess.

I guess it would be easy to make a 60Hz NTSC version for japanese people?

No, the VDP cannot do the copies in 1 frame when set to 60Hz. Basically making a game 50Hz-only means you get to do 10-20% more/bigger copies per frame than on 60Hz.

I think distribution on such a scale might draw some unwelcome attention from Konami though...

not so easy...
going at 60Hz cuts down the VDP max load per frame more than 20%-25%
SM2 (like total parody) exploits all the VDP capabilities at the VDP cycle so take your conclusions

Wow , what a stupid expectations -as if - a success of a game in general has something to do with ocm, which is even not available overhere.
Although I donot think there is much text, japanese localization ? I think too much work for the developers
And 1000+, Dvik that is quite dreaming

I based it on the fact of how good the game is. Our Sudoku game has sold about 20 copies and SM2 is about 50 times better so then it makes sense that it would sell 1000 copies, right

I actually don't think its unrealistic but it does indeed require localization and it would indeed be a lot of work. And to reach those levels it needs a lot of marketing and distribution (not to mention license fees to Konami) which probably cost some.

Sudoku is free anyway, as it's a Dev'06 entry, like duh that few ppl buy it.. So, using sudoku in the formula to estimate the buyers-potention for SM2 is a bit like letting me do the asm from now and pray that things go well. ^__^

Soduku you cannot even buy ,since I asked d-tail, but he wasnot capable to deliver I asked ,and again it is not realisitic daniel ,sorry even if it has the blesson of Konami compared with the figures of e.g. bombaman which is around 160 I call realistic for manbow-2

No doubt that bombaman is a great game (I'm one of the 160 buyers btw), but it doesn't at all have the potential SM2 has. I think that if bombaman sold 160 copies, 1000 is not unrealistic for a new version of one of the best MSX games ever. Especially if you can get into the Japanese market.
