the case that look like a turbo R is fine , with some lifting of course.
i dont know any cheap process to mold plastic cases , for msx case or cartridge ,
I guess it works like one fee for the molds then production but it is not clear, is
it doable in the "bathroom" or is it something that has to be done by a fab ?
any clue ?

Some months ago, I did some internet search for companies which are engaged in building cases. They offer different production processes and even the creation of keyboards. One of them was as far as I understood specialized in medical applications, one requires to have the design drawings in Coral draw format ...

But, at the very beginning of the homecomputer era, Sinclair computers already had casings, so nowadays, it should not be too expensive. (Although the casing I have in mind is not just a box for saver handling of the PCBs, but an integral and most important part of the concept complient to several requirements. So getting this into being will not be that easy.)

... that 80s feeling ...

Back in the day, companies were not engaged to create a special 80s feeling, but to make money with a new kind of technologie. Of course, they had limited budgets, you always have limited budgets. And of course, 80s computers were just children of their era, and were the first computers to many of us, so it's justified to speak from and about that 80s feeling. And, at least in the early 80s, pc wasn't available yet, so these kind of systems were something very special. (Keep in mind that computers are around since the 50s in scientific and universitarian environment, so they actually weren't new.)

But nowadays a child's first computer is most likely a ''baby computer'' like VTech produces it or it's deliberatly exposed to a business computer to get it fixed to PC to save education costs. So, 20 years ahead, a today's child may feel about its first glittering ugly grey business computer the same way like so many of us feel about our first computers (VZ200, MSX, ZX, Atari, Acorn, Amstard, Commodore, etc.) now. This child will most likely not be aware of that there were other kinds of computers around before the PC system.

So besides that special 80s feeling, there may be some special homecomputer feeling etc.

If you think you are blessed by that 80s feeling, switch to evaluation mode:

Maybe it's just a curse? Maybe it impedes you from seeing the things as they are or from finding a way to do something new, which could also serve to prevent that 80s feeling in some form or another. The ones who didn't experience the 80s will probably not understand it. But they maybe will understand some homecomputer feeling, which is not fixed to the 80s. And, if you would try to keep the essence of the homecomputers alive, you could try to put some of your 80s feeling in that new sophisticated homecomputers.

I just browsed that pages, not thoroughly gone through them. They offer lots of services/products, as you surely have seen. For getting a price, you need to specify what you want, isn't it? If you don't know that, you can't get a price. You see, making a casing is not that easy at all.

You can also have these sites in English. Search for the respective icons.
