But ehrm, I'd love to make a translation, but: -
- I'm very busy with non-MSX-related things at the moment
- I lack the necessary technical knowledge (reverse engineering)
- I don't know the game very well so I'd need to do some studying
- WOOMB translations have priority over non-WOOMB-translations to me
- I have not yet fully recovered from my motivation breakdown
That would be about it. Good news is (for those who consider it to be good news, that is) that an English (WOOMB) version of Aleste Gaiden is to be expected soon. |

Anyway, the solution to the "I can't get past the first floor problem" is actually not very difficult. Just talk to everybody in the office, but put extra attention to the fellow that introduced you to the first floor in the first place. Iirc, it's the guy sitting on the desk right in front of the entrance, on the lower left side. Compare the kanji of the name if you want to be sure. Talk to him about five to ten times every round you make, talk to the others as long as they don't seem to be saying anything new. That's about it. What this is all about, comes down to translation and it has been too long ago already to exactly remember what all those conversations were about (but they were mainly chit-chat).

Rikusu: that's not exactly my style of having fun while playing a game... I'd like to understand what people have to say to [virtual] me |

You don't expect me to provide you with (semi) literal translations here, do you?
(I'm afraid you do...)

Like Rikusu said. It is mainly chit chat. When you exit the first floor you have access to the fighting game, the music test and maybe more which I haven't found out yet. After the first floor. A translation would be nice because then you find a "victim" that is attacked by (If I remember well) some kind of gargoyles.

Thanks for the tip Rikusu! Like Manuel I own the original game and would love to finish it sometime. Ofcourse it would be great to be able to understand what it is about, but like in the older MSX days (pre-translations) this doesn't have to stop us from finishing it!
When (if?) I finish Pumpkin Adventure III, I think The Tower of Cabin will be my next 5 year plan (sadly I don't take the time to play very often, but these tips do get me in an MSXing mood!).

Did someone ever start translating Final Fantasy for MSX?
Also, games like Arcus II seem to be very nice. And it's already partly in English... Did someone try to translate it? What do you think about the game?

about FF
Yeah a guy started on the hack of the game over a year ago. I provided an over 95% translated script back then. Never heard from him since though... Could try to get back in touch with him.
