Yes, it is new. It's a port/remake of the arcade version. Don't know a lot about Coleco, but I assume it's about the same version. I don't have screenshots, unfortunately :-(... Icon Games is Brazilian, indeed.
Shameless plug -->
You can order Jungle Hunt for € 14,50 ex. S&H at
- Matra (updating website at the moment)
- Bitwise (please send a mail, 'cause the game is not in the order form yet...) |

Icon Games == SLotman
As for Jungle Hunt, I guess everyone described it already
It's a port of the ColecoVision game, with the Title Screen converted from the arcade game, proper timing on 7Mhz or turbo-Rs and Cool colors on MSX2 or higher
Also, I'm finishing up converting Montezuma's Revenge (still have to test it on real MSX1s though) - you can see it here |

I wonder why people/companies didn't do more ports from Coleco to MSX in the 80's. Much better than Spectrum ports, I guess.

Cool seeing they're still producing games for MSX.
I got Ink - Exxon Surfing which is a simple but addictive game.

Yeah, I got it, didnt reply earlier because I was very busy (take a look at my website) doing other stuff
Let me answer here:
About Montezuma's: I still have to test the game further - specially on a REAL MSX1 to see if the game dont have any "slow VDP, very fast OUT's" problem. I *think* I fixed all of them, but want to be pretty sure before releasing the game. And I haven't talked to Matra yet about it, so for now, it won't be on cartridge (but I intend to do it)
About music on those games: it's pretty hard to do it. Coleco has a sound chip with 4 channels, which must be "emulated" on every game converted - this of course takes some processing, and you can't predict which channels are going to be used (or not). So adding on top of it music, would not only make the game slower, but sometimes would be even impossible - even when the game has only some bleeps here and there...
Also the game + coleco BIOS have to fit (compressed, of course) into 32Kb, otherwise, no ROM
One thing I thought other day was to use FM for music - but I have no clue how to rip music from arcade, and convert it into a suitable MSX format; also I won't touch Jungle Hunt anymore - that game is finished |

Thanks for your answers, Slotman!
That was a new thing to me, that coleco bios must put to cartridge too! :/
Good luck on testing montezuma on real msx!
Anyway, if you like to listen any suggestion for coleco-->msx ports, I would like to give you some:
ROOT BEER TAPPER and PEPPER II are very high on my "wishlist"!
Also here are some other amusing coleco games I would like to play on my msx:
Frogger 2: Three Deep
Gateway to Apshai
Pitstop
Lady Bug
But does Pitstop need driving wheel like "Turbo"? As sometime ago I tried it on bluemsx and it only allowed me to choose difficulty, but that´s all, I couldn´t play the game... I remember I used to play Coleco´s Pitstop years ago on some coleco emulator...
About Musical coleco games, GYRUSS has non-stop ingame music! |

Lady Bug is something that seems worthwhile to be seen on MSX... |

Those games dont run with Colem? Seems like a waste of time to "port" them if they can already be played with it...

........of course they can be played on coleco emulators, just tested Pitstop on Virtual Colecovision, and now it worked.
What I meant was, it´s more fun to get those games "burned" to cartridges to play them on REAL msx, than just use coleco emulator.
That´s why I am waiting cartridge release of Montezuma´s Revenge.... |

well... ROOT BEER TAPPER is a must for every beer lover! You must serve beers to thirsty customers (they have nasty ways to "treat" you if you aren´t fast enough... ) in various bars. Tip: MSX-DEV´06 basic game "Penguin Café" is pretty straightforward clone of ROOT BEER TAPPER. But of course action in (machine-code) TAPPER is more frantic!
it has excellent graphics too!
PEPPER II is like pacman, but it´s 1.000.000 times more exciting!!!! it has four screens (instead of pacman´s one..) which can be entered at any time, if you go to tunnel in pacman, you just appear to another side of screen, in PEPPER II, "Exits (1-4)" are used to change screen whenever you want!!! So you can decide in which order you want to finish each screen! REALLY FUN GAME!!!!
Older role playing freaks may probably remember game called "GATEWAY TO APSHAI", it is real time arcade adventure type role playing game!!! You can slay monsters (many different types) with your sword, use keys, spells, locate traps, etc... if you EVER have wanted fast role playing game, THIS IS A MUST!!!!!!!!!!!! I must confess, that I have never been role playing freak, but I have always liked this game a lot!!!!!!!!! |
