Since Bazix doesnt seem to be able to deliver, i have researched myself a bit
for getting some imported one-chips from japan. I can get them for 220 euro incl
shipment. But the more i order, the cheaper we can buy them. So if there are people
out here who are interested in buying please let me know here so i know how much
demand there is for such an import .

And the buyer (the end user, e.g. us) pays upon receiving it, or in advance?

So as far as i am concerned i want to know how many people are interested.
Then i can get the price fixed and then some down paypent is reasonble.
Ofcourse on full name and adress discharge.

The point is those rohs things. When an OCM goes through the shredder at the customs, the buyer lost his money?

Apart from that, there are more downsides to non-professional import. There are no guarantees, yet the devices may be broken during or after shipment. There's no support, no English documentation, etc. I'm sure there's a lot more, but this is what comes to mind at this moment.

I can understand that the continuously delayed delivery of the European version makes one decide to look for other options, but you should take in mind that importing more devices also brings responsibilities. If this were not the case, Bazix would probably already have distributed the original Japanese ones instead of opting for European versions.

ROHS is nothing more than a paper rule at the moment. It's not enforced ad all. And consumer are still allowed to send/trade non-RohS items. So for them, this is a non-issue. Bazix on the other hand is a legal entity and officialy has to supply RoHS products, though they shouldn't be worried about that too much either.

There you do have a good point. If you end up with a broken OCM, you will have to solve the issue with the seller yourself. You have absolutely no guarantee how this will end up. You even have the chance you loose your money and ending up with a non-working device. It's something people will have to consider.
On the other hand: Noone has any experience right now on how Bazix will handle these issues. Up untill now, Bazix has only proved to be quite uncommunicative towards it's potential customers regarding this subject, leaving them in the dark. All of this doesn't give a lot of trust either. How long have Bazix's customers been waiting now? And is there any, even just ANY idea on when everything will become available?

The trader mentioned in the link above is rklok, with a positive ration on eBay of 99%. If I was interested in an OCM, I know what I would do.

The fact that there has been little news about the OCM from Bazix, has everything to do with the fact that there has been little or no news to communicate. I wrote about that somewhere else as well. It's much more annoying to send news and to be forced to withdraw it afterwards because things changed, than not communicating before things are sure at a certain degree. The main reason is not Bazix itself, but the fact that things in Japan have been very restless after the Japanese OCM release. We still depend on our Japanese partners for a great deal and up until now, this has been the bottleneck. It does not, however, mean that there's something wrong with Bazix' communication. The weak point is to be found somewhere else. Maybe you could disagree with the choice we made about the communication (as I described above), but I'm really very sure that you would have agreed at once if we had done it otherwise.

Please do not forget that things with the OCM really haven't gone the way we hoped either. But we can't do more than our best, and that's what we've been doing so far.

Importing an OCM from japan is nothing different from importing an old Sony MSX from Japan. There is always risks involved with private import as mentioned above but I think the chances of the OCM to break during shipping is quite small. If I wanted an OCM real bad as I know many do, I would definitely consider finding a channel to import one from Japan instead of waiting for a European version (or get the latter too when it becomes available).

Apart from that, it's also cool to import yourself and receive some mysterious looking japanese package with an even more coolish looking japanese manual ^_^

Little news is kind of an understatement. If I remember correctly, after some noise here on the forum here earlier this year, some e-mail was finally sent. But when I check the Bazix.nl website at the moment, the last news I find there is from exactly one year ago (November 7th, 2006!!), stating that the signup for the OCM started. That's it.
I know there have been some developments in Snouts life, making him put the MSX-stuff on hold for a moment (for a very good reason), but waiting a year now, without any idea of what is going to hapen, well.. that is really, really to long. There is also no indication at all on how long everything is going to take, another month? Another year? Or even longer?
I know I have been making some remarks regarding Sunrise, but Bazix isn't winning any prizes either at the moment.

What am I talking about anyway? I didn't pre-order anyway.

Makes me wonder: Will Bazix open up a new sign-in when things finally get clear? I wouldn't be suprised if some people already found other ways to get their hands on an OCM.

And that is also very very true
Though sometimes it's irritating if a few days later you also get a customs invoice, but well.. that's part of the game

And us MSX-ers play this game for more than 20 years now. We're used to it and we love it

Rikusu - as I also said in e-mail: it's always better to send a "We're still alive" message once in a while than sending nothing at all. Just a message "hey, it's going to take even longer than we thought, because we have trouble in Japan". Two months later "Still no news for Japan, we have to keep waiting", etc. Then you at least know that things are still going on and that the project/people are still alive.
Just keeping silent is *the* method to loose trust.

This is not about making promises you may have to withdraw. This is about keeping people up to date of what's going on. No matter how boring those messages may be, it's definately better than keeping silent.
