Just do what it says.. Reboot the thing and keep the CTRL key pressed untill the system in fully booted.
This will clear up some extra memory, giving some more room which the software probably needs.

Have you tried MAP.COM before EP.COM ?
Perhaps, it may help...

The msx1mania loader is very picky on available ram, probably the ocm requires more workspace. You could try converting them to rom and use the rom emulation of slot-2 of the ocm.

About using the slot2 in the 1chipMSX for loading roms, what loaders do you use? I have only tried MGLOAD to load SCC Megaroms. Thanks!

PS: How do you covert it to ROM?

Converting the dsk images can be done with dsk2rom. Loading them, havn't tried rom images on my ocm yet, but if mgload is the tool for that, use that one dsk2rom allows creation of scc mapped megaroms, so that shouldn't be a problem.

How did you convert it (which options did you use)?

First using copy /b dsk2rom.rom+<dskfile> <romfile>
Second using dis2rom -f colmsx1.dsk colmsx.rom

Try to change mode of operations SCC2 by switches DIP SW7 and DIP SW8.

I remember something about the MSX mania disks having an invalid media ID byte, indicating that the disk is double sided while in fact it is single sided. Early versions of openMSX tripped on this.
