It's not fair Ok, I know that there is already a port of fMSX available for Symbian phones, but I'm talking about ANY devices here

Commodore fans have the excellent JME C64 emulator, a Commodore 64 J2ME emulator that works on almost any mobile phone actually available on the market

http://sourceforge.net/projects/jmec64/

Spectrum fans have two choices: MobileZX (http://mobilezx.sourceforge.net/) and the impressive russian emulator PocketZX (http://rsm.pud.ru/?set=download&mc=1) that is capable of running at full speed on my Sony Ericsson V640i

Now... if only somebody would like to start coding a MSX emulator in J2ME... (I must admit that I don't know how to write a single line of code in Java )

AFAIK JEmu2 and the other Korean emulator were made for J2SE (the desktop edition of Java), so they can be only used on a desktop PC. The emulators I have listed can be launched on any mobile phone that is capable of running J2ME

BTW I would be glad to be mistaken

Someone already attempted this, and got emulator that boots 10 minutes to MSX logo - not very useful.

Do you have a MP4 player ? I am porting fMSX to Rockbox at the moment.

In fact, development almost stalled from June because I have no time for it, but I still plan to release it someday. All this time I was just playing games on my way to work and back.

Cool.

I have an old iPod nano, but when I saw your photo I wished I had one of those video players

[Off Topic] Now I have remembered who are you... thanks a lot for having developed MicroWAVer! You have no idea about how useful your application was to restore my old collection of MSX tapes. I have fitted many of the games I used to have on old tapes in a shiny single CD

I am very glad you found MicroWAVer useful, but don't forget to thank WYZ as well - we developed the tool together with him.

Some SmartPhones are already on the 400-500 Mhz range ... There is a estimated time to get Smart Phones (MultiMedia Computers) that would feature a CPU with twice that amount of Mhz.

Some HandHeld devices are on the 600 Mhz clock!

Wait!

1 Ghz PDA
The estimated time for the release was predicted to be around end of 2008 or the begin of 2009! Imagine, a person would get a phone (computer) that could operate a full Operating System or even MultiMedia content.

May I politely inquire about the SDRAM bus speed in these mega smartphones and whether they let you run anything other than Java midlets? =)

Er, can I ask a favour? I'd like to download the new release 0.2 of MobileZX (a ZX spectrum emulator in java for mobile phones), but since the page is written in Russian and Babelfish is not able to translate properly the download section of that page, could you tell me which link I have to follow to download the emulator ?

The webpage is here: http://rsm.hocom.by/

The version of google that I've running can translate the Russian language into a readable English.
As far I've read that site, I think you must login before you can download something.
Well,I guess this is a little offtopic.
