...Would someone be so very very very nice to put NBASIC.BIN on a .dsk file and e-mail it to me?

It's not that I don't want to do that myself; I can't make disk images from loose files.

I would be VERY obliged!

...

Since I still have enough viagra in stock, I won't post my e-mail address here;

You can find it in my profile.

I wish it were so...

When I:

* Download a loose .dsk from my e-mail

* Create a .dsk with loose files with whatever Disk Manager, DskExplorer etc.

I only get:

* "Bad file mode"

* "Direct statement in file"

* Empty BASIC files

That's what you get when typing with 11 fingers.

Are you saying that if you download a dsk file, it doesn't work in your emulator??

@ Huey: Yeah, I really should cut down on the viagra.
Very useful when playing the piano, though!
(And it spares my nose a little)

@ Manuel: Yes, and when I create a .dsk by myself, it's the "same shit, diff'rent dsk".

As long as I NEVER expose the loose files to the OS, it works.

So, copying files from .dsk to .dsk should happen in "MSX mode" only, and a .dsk itself should be in a .rar when going over the internet.

Um, you're contradicting yourself. First you say you can't use a dsk file you downloaded in an emulator, but later you say that you can use it if you don't extract the dsk file contents.... What is it?

And why should the .dsk file be in a rar?

Did you already try with the Diskmanipulator of openMSX?

O.k. *sigh*

* When downloading a .rar containing a .dsk or a .rom file and extracting the .rar, it works

* When downloading a .dsk or .rom directly, it doesn't work

* When using an MSX (emulator) to manage internal files, it works

* When I use a Windows tool, whether the medium was downloaded or not, it doesn't work

...Never mind, really.

With both BlueMSX and openMSX I get only C-BIOS which only runs cartridges.

Yes, I added the required system ROMs to the folders.

Let's look on it from the bright side: Maybe I'm just 50% an idiot and my (new) computer is only 50% screwed.

In those emulators, choose a different machine and you'll get that machine.

When you download a .dsk directly, do you mean you get a different file than on the server?? Are you sure about that?
Are other downloads also corrupted?

Does an emulator also count as a Windows tool?

PS: I'm not trying to annoy you. I'm trying to find out where the problem is exactly. Because (as a technical person), I find it a very strange story...

The filenames will be 100% correct.

But images will be corrupted internally;
Files that worked normally (were accessible) before, will suddenly give errors like "Direct statement in file" for BASIC programs, "bad file mode" for pictures & .bin files that are normally binary loaded, etc.

I'll try anything you suggest, maybe we can both learn from this *%$#;
Me as frustrated user and you as technical person.

P.S. Yes, I'm sorry if I'm coming off annoyed.

It's not really because of you or anyone, but because this problem is totally obstructing my development process and is actually making me lose sleep.

Could this be related to the 'hide extensions' option in windows? Just a wild guess.
Perhaps you edit the file and windows adds an extension to the files....

How do you add the files to the dsk? I use the manager I mailed you just using drag and drop.
Ps. could you mail me a corrupted Image (or some of those viagra)? Perhaps I can see something in the corrupted files (secret mesages from your demonic pc e.g.).
