Hey, have a look at this auction on eBay:
thing
There are a lot of stuff made by Philips for us Italians.
Here is a small list of the software on auction:
GESTIONE CONTO CORRENTE ("Bank account manager" ) - VG 8375
GESTIONE ARCHIVI ("Database management system" ) - VG 8392
ELABORAZIONE TESTI ("Word processor" ) - VG 8393
AGENDA APPUNTAMENTI ("Agenda / Calendar manager" ) - VG 8591
CALCOLO EQUOCANONE - (Ha! How can I explain the purpose of this software... it was useful to calculate the maximum amount of money you had to pay for renting a house in Italy, the name of that act was "EQUO CANONE". Now that act has been abolished, and for example you can rent a ten square meters bathhouse for 10.000 Euro per month if you want. I'm not really sure about how it worked because in the eighties I was just a kid. I have read somewhere that in some countries this is called "Fair Rent Act" - VG 8395

Bas: oops, sorry, you already answered my questions...
Bas, maybe you should just get more directly involved in GenMSX?

The MSX1 standard was quite popular in Italy. It has never been as popular as the Commodore 64, but IMHO it was the second best-selling 8-bit home computer in Italy; the third place was taken by the ZX Spectrum for sure, while other homecomputers (like the Amstrad CPC) were actually advertised on the magazines but it was almost impossible to be found in the stores (at least this was true in my city)
On the other side MSX2 arrived too late here, just some months before the arrival of the Commodore Amiga, that took almost all the market shares like a storm.
Keep in mind that usually the Italians tend to embrace only one big brand at a time: it happened with Commodore in the eighties, and now it's still happening with the Playstation brand. In all the rest of europe the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 are taking big market shares, while here in Italy the people are still buying only "Playstation 2" and "Playstation 3" systems (and the PSP is battling head-to-head with the Nintendo DS). |

So, that is Plan Contable NMS8596 for MSX2 and MSX Home Office NMS 8702/28 (Spanish) 8522 518 70282 Esp., for both MSX and MSX2 (it says 'spreadsheet' only though).

MSX home office = NMS8701 and consists of a text editing program and spreadsheet program
MSX home office 'spreadsheet' = NMS8702 and is only a spreadsheet program
It is a bit confusing because both boxes and roms are almost the same and both carry a big “home office” title. The NMS8702 shows also a small subtitle: “spreadsheet” on the box and rom.

I always thought that F16 Fighter (1984) was the only game on cartridge! However, this is still a special one. You are able to play against someone else by using two roms and two computers that are connected via a special cable from Philips!
Pac-Man (How can I add a picture of this one?) is released in the same series as Galaxian. I am curious (again!) about this series… I will now the product ids when the software arrives at my place.... (thank you for the hint SaebaMSX!)

While I was searching philips MSX stuff I found that F16 Fighter too in msxarchive.nl, I did not know that philips had these cartridge games. Galaxian surprised me too, since only the original Namco version appears when you do searchs. Do they have normal "VG codes"?
I don't know if you mean to show a picture here in MRC, in that case you have to use (IMG)URLoftheimage(/IMG) where you should replace " ( " and " ) " by "[" and "]".
And no problem about helping! By the way, if you are interested in Spanish MS Base (if it is not in your collection), even if it does not have the tape, I don't mind in give you it for free. Just send me a mail to saebamsx [at] gmail [dot] com and we will see how you can receive it. I got it from my neighbour some years ago together to a F700s computer and some other goodies.

This spanish auction is also quite weird: Link
It's an auction for a MSX Basic course made by Sony on Betamax videotapes. |
