I'm actually working on a small application that'll let anybody to edit their own tapes. You will be able to cut, copy, paste, import files inside any .CAS file; you will be also able to rename any file inside the tapes or move the files simply dragging them.
And in the first public release you will be also able to export your tapes to WAV format, so you will be able to use them on any real MSX computer... I'm actually rewriting Vincent Van Dam routines in RB (Don't worry Vincent... I'll credit your original work inside the application)
And for the first time ever, an application of this kind will be available for WINDOWS, MAC OS X and LINUX from the first day of release.
Here's a picture of the interface so far:
Note that this is a screenshot taken from the Mac OS X version. The other two versions will look exactly the same, since I'm developing this utility with RealBasic.
Well, now let's talk about MY questions
1) Since I decided that I want to accept any suggestion, what you'd like to see implemented in this application that I haven't already listed ?
2) I don't really like the name "MSX Tape Manager"... it's too generic Have you any suggestion for a better name? |

Yes, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement this feature I suppose... |

I was thinking about adding the possibility of exporting the tapes in .TZX format in a distant future, because I heard that the .TZX format allows to recreate a perfect image of an original tape (this is true at least on the Spectrum... I don't know yet if this format can be adapted to the MSX) |

Yes, is a short (phonetic) for cassette (tape). If I'm not wrong is specially popular in the vintage french scene as well the diskette one (D7). |

I think only_69 refers to this project. The links inside the page seem to be broken though. The package contained a set of python scripts which could be used to do various actions with .cas files iirc.

I would love to see the .cas format encapsulated within the .tzx format; but without emulator support it wouldn't make much sense. I think adding the support to that fileformat should be easy though.
Oh, and btw, good job

I meant K7. I thought everybody knew that tape and k7 was the same stuff. Sorry... And I was not referring to any project, Vincent. I even never heard about this project...
I enjoyed more the MAC version. The interface looks better... |
