I once played an MSX game, and I can't remember the name :| It was a combination of a board game and an RPG. Many players could play, and you'd take turns rolling a die to move along the board, and then there would be battles, and towns wherein plot development occured. It was very good - seems like the sort of thing any die-hard MSXer would remember So I was hoping maybe I could find the answer here

Indeed. In the same genre, UMAX made Witches Revenge which was released by Sunrise.

Is there a translation patch available for this game?

Have they! I've managed to find only a translation for Runemaster 1, and I haven't been able to figure out how to make it work... does Oasis have a web page? I was not able to find one...

Perhaps you got a .TRD file. You have to use the TRANSLAT.COM utility to patch the game disk. Note that this tool always overwrites disk in drive A:, so be careful with your SCSI or IDE disks!

You may download translat.com and .TRD files from my public FTP at:

ftp://jam.msxland.com/gamedisk/patches

If you play Runemaster on emulators, maybe you want to patch a .DSK file instead the real diskette. In this case, try the msdos utility TRANSLAT.EXE at:

ftp://jam.msxland.com/pcutils/translat.exe

Finally, you can do the reverse operation, that is to create a TRD file comparing a original and a translated game. Take a look at:

ftp://jam.msxland.com/pcutils/maketrd.exe (MSDOS version)ftp://jam.msxland.com/utils/etc/maketrd.com (DOS2 version)

There was a lot of troubles with the DNS provider hosting my domain name, so it may occurs that you had to substitute jam.msxland.com with 217.216.210.180 instead.

Well, I only set the FTP up for a while .... I'm currently uploading the entire MSX Legacy contents to a speedy server in Japan (do you guess who belongs the server to?). My goal is to create a PHP interface to access the Legacy via Internet.

I suppose it will take me hundreds of working hours, so don't expect to see it 'next month'. Maybe 'next year'. Anyway I would like to finish it next summer (not later).

Now we are in that 'next year', what about MSX legacy on-line?

Regards to the 'no siempre bien valorado pero no por eso deja de serlo' Jam

Hasta incluso.
