Can MoonSound generate sound through MSX?

I have MoonSound, and I'm wondering why SunRise didn't implement an option to output sound from MSX itself (like SCC for example). My idea is when I plug speakers to the MoonSound the sound comes out from the speakers otherwise it comes out from the monitor.
Can that be implemented in newer versions of MoonSound?

It should be possible, though it has its pro's and con's...

Pro: You would always have sound.
Con: MoonSound sound is stereo. MSX itself isn't. The MSX cartridge slot has only one output signal. MoonSound sounds much better through its own stereo output than through the MSX itself since the MSX has its own mixing stuff to add PSG, other cartridge slot sound signal and (in case of MSX turbo R) PCM sound.

I hope Sunrise will react to this as well.

yobi/umf zeeland actually built his msx in a pc case, and after some tweaks, his opl4 sound was coming from his monitor.. in stereo.

hmm.. he probably connected his monitor speakers directly to the opl4 card (he has the old one, without the case.)

..I also think routing the Moonsound audio through the MSX would highly affect sound quality.

That was the prime reason indeed. Although I guess they could have done both, like on the Music Module... dunno why not, I guess it required a lot of additional logic (= more expensive) to keep the 'MSX output' fully (noise-)seperated from the 'cartridge output'.

reducing costs was probably another reason as well.... that's also one of the reasons the moonsounds lacks a DSP for reverb and chorus
