I think Italian Stallion is quite obvious candidate. |

Note that although Anty has horrible music, it does have quite a smooth full screen 8x8 scroll |

Yes, it had to be either the music or the scrolling... as MSX can´t do the both, either game has good music or "smooth" scrolling! |

Highway star music is pretty irritating. And Magic Kid Wiz is pretty bad as well, the music in level one is sooo bad I thought my copy was wrong |

 Missing the voice "Hi Dave"
Very annoying that this tune was used al lot in those "budget" games.
But i have to agree with Samor, the tune of Pitfall II was going beyond annoying after hours of playing this game.
Specialy when you had to redo a part for the 1000 time when again the checkpoint in sight.
Almost finished the game but after the last checkpoint i could not bare it anymore.
Last time i've played the game for a little while was making a KSS from it to annoy others as well

As an ex-administrator of double computer class (20 Yamaha MSX2 machines), I can tell you that even the best tune can become a nightmare if you allow all these children, playing the same game simultaneously on 20 machines, to switch on the volume.
And when you ask them to mute, and then approach each and every machine and scroll the volume off, they start feeling something is missing and begin making sounds themselves, with their mouths. Imagine all of them playing Road Fighter and roaring like the engine of the car... |

Hydlide
Laydock
Pyramid Warp
(yes, coincidence that they're all from T&E Soft)

Not a sound, but the PSG sound effects of Fire Hawk are quite annoying (especially the laser beam), since they sound at a higher volume than the FM music. A pity, because otherwise it is a really great game.

I tend to circumvent that problem by turning the PSG sound deliberately lower than FM on openMSX |

there's also a bug in the stage 1 FM music, AFAIK, where the volume of one channel lowers everytime it loops.
