There was a revival of old software.
Use of MSX simulator
Another PDF

Educom

Instead of the classic MSX system, their used a simulator ("Virtual MSX" to save the content of the disks and later their translated the software for use on the Internet.

So... Do/did they use a lot of MSX computers in Brazil for education purposes?

In the Netherlands, they sure did when I grew up.

Especially the Radarsoft Topography and the maths stuff.

Anyone remember that maths game where you had to solve a puzzle to clear some guy's pathway to a helicopter?

Well I've seen al lot of "ground schools" and they used either MSX or the %$#@ 64.

Nope. Although MSX was sold as an educational computer, this project by UFRJ University from Rio de Janeiro, when finished, was completly obsolete - the PCs had spread in the market, and MSX were no longer sold - so the project was droped (or they rewrote the whole thing for PCs, I dont remember).

And a shame, the URL posted on the PDF that should show at least some screenshots of the project running on a emulator, is gone

My elementary school used MSX as well. In fact, that's the reason my dad bought an NMS8245 all those years ago (1988, 1989 or something, that's when my big sister went to the first grade ["groep 3"]). He even wrote a maths program which they used at the school for the kids to test their math ability.
