Hi there.
I need help with one thing. I've tried and tried but it is unsuccessful for me.

I have a tape which is now about 20 years old. It contains a game I wrote when I was about 13 yo which is a kind of tennis-game but with sampled speech etc. I would really like to resurrect that game to see what I was capable of in those days.

As far as I can recall I saved the program in ASCII-format so it could start automatically, it then loaded a big blob of a binary file which included the sampled data.

I have tried to sample the tape's sound to a wav-file and as far as my ears can tell me, the quality of the sound is quite good. Most probably the game is saved with 2400 baud since I can remember what that sounds like.

The problem is that no converters want to convert it to a cas-file or anything else so I believe that there might not be enough quality of the sound anyway etc etc.

Are there anyone out there who I can send the wav-file to and maybe receive a converted version from?

Unfortunately my MSX exploded a couple of years ago so I need to rely on emulators now.
Anyone in for some help?

Try to just run it in an emulator which supports the WAV tape images (e.g. openMSX) on the same model MSX as you used to develop it on.

If it doesn't work, then either your recording is bad or the tape has been too much worn out... The latter would be trouble, but it is possible to resurrect it by editing the sample manually, I suppose... Tricky though.

If you want, I can convert that wav for you (if possible). Just compress it, make sure it doesn't exceed the size of 10Mb and send me a copy at this e-mail address: fmaida (AT) hotmail (DOT) it

You can also check out Hans Otten's cassette page that contains a lot of tips.
