Hello all !
Today I got my sunrise CF-IDE interface by mail and tried to get it to work for the last 3 hours...
I finnaly got the Bios uploaded in the flash memory, but thats all
I Have A Turbo-r GT with the standard 512KB and I want 2 use 2 CF card in my interface, a 32MB and a 128MB (fat16).
When I startup my computer it finds the interface but after doing all the checks it's saying "NO ENOGH MEMORY"...
Whas does this mean ? 512KB should be enough ?!?
So I never even had the change yet to use fdisk or whatever to format my cf-cards.
The only reason why I goit the bios uploaded what because I pressed "ins" on startup..
What am i doing wrong !
Thanks (again!!!)

Try pressing [DEL] to skip the CF boot code and then use fdisk to partition the CF card. If that doesn't resolve the issue try using a different card. As a last-ditch attempt you can try to find one of those programs which can create a disk-image of a CF card and use that to write the an image you make in an emulator to the CF card.

Moniz, I had the same problem with my CF-IDE interface. I can't remember the details of how I solved it, but it was simply a matter of choosing the right BIOS to upload to the flash memory. Try different BIOS versions until you get it working.

I finally got over the "no enough memory" problem and now I'm able to startup (with del pressed, thanks Sonic) msx-dos from disk! (still not from CF!).
Next thing is how to get my master CF to work with fdisk!
When I start fdisk it does find the 32MB master CF, but everytime i try to format it it's saying "disk error".
any suggestions ?
thanks!
[maybe I should go to the book-shop and get a "cd-interface for dummies" book ]

did you create partition with fdisk ?if your cf has been formatted in fat32 with a pc then it may not be readable , you should use fdisk then.
I received my cf a while a ago but put it in place last week with a cf256meg , not problem at all , i went through the fdisk , partition creation , i created only a partition of 32 megs at first .

I'm not even getting 1 partision made.
When i startup fdisk the first thing i do is pressing "A" (auto generate partition table) and that should give me 1 partition (right?).
But when I'm trying to write that to medium it's saying "disk error!!!"
The same is happening to my 128mb CF card, also pressin "A" giving me 4 partition tables, but when I try to write it..."disk error"
could this be a problem with my cf cards ? wich i doubt, the always worked fine, or is the interface not compatible with all cf brands ??

Try [F] [A] [W] [I] and see if that works. If it doesn't, try using a different CF card. There are some compatibility issues indeed, although it seems to vary depending on brand and size. Some cards will work fine, others won't. In theory the CF adapter is compatible with all cards, but there are some models which somehow don't seem to work properly.

I don't understand why you're messing with the bios
AFAIK the CF is ready to use, just format and partition your CF card and your ready to go.
Maybe you messed up the BIOS, I would ask sunrise for some help before starting a collection of CF cards |

Moniz, I also had the same problem you mention, the Disk Error when trying to write the partition table. Be sure you use the right program to write the partition table (I think there are two of them on the disk... but I'm not sure and I don't have the disk here). And also try different BIOS files again. When I solved the Not Enough Memory problem I had the "Write Error" problem, and I solved it simply by trying different BIOS files.
Of course, it can be a problem of your card, but the problems you describe are the same I had and it was not necessary for me to change the card.
