Well, I ask Terasic about boards:
Thank you very much for the message!
Yes, the Altera DE1 is the same board as Cyclone II FPGA Starter Dev. Kit.
Altera adopted the DE1 board designed and manufactured by Terasic as the Cyclone II FPGA Starter Dev. Kit.

The newest EMSX_TOP [KAI] for DE1 has a problem in starting.
It cannot start from BIOS in EPCS4.
However, it starts from BIOS on SD-Card.
The cause is not known yet
In both DE1 and OCM, many problems are in VDP.
It is under examination towards remaking VDP now.

Do you have instructions on how to build cartridge slots for DE1?
|
DE1 version is making correction of Mr. caro the base.
The signal of a cartridge slot has not been connected now.
However, I think that it is connectable with a pin header if it assigns using "Pin Planner"
There is more LE of DE1 than LE of OCM. ( LE is Logic Element )
I am going to attach some special functions only to DE1 version.

wow, very interesting pricing!
USD 192.40 = EURO 124.13 (using 1.55 euro/USD) for 1 unit, and that is including Express shipping by UPS...
Too bad I am not a student anymore :-(
Can I program it myself with the Terasic kit, or do I need extra cables?

It comes with power supply and USB programming cable. It has 20K LE as opposed to 12K LE on OCM, and it has a high quality DAC as opposed to 1-bit output of OCM, but it doesn't look as neat as OCM and it doesn't have cartridge ports.

All signals necessary for a cartridge slot, are already connected to contacts of expanded plugs DE1.
On these plugs the signals for joysticks are connected also.

The USB-related function is not contained in present EMSX-TOP [KAI].
However, there is a free space of 10000LE.
I think that a USB-Joystick interface, a USB-Floppy interface, etc. can be put in.

MSXA put out permission to make a new device with the company that was already.
Details are announced little by little in the MSX25 anniversary event.
The new device is required to be sold from the beginning all over the world.
