Game t25 regarding music

I've been thinking about a large megamix of various MSX game tunes for next month (guess which date), Disney-style (those long sentimental/uber-Disney-fied 15..20 minute songs), of the 25 most essential MSX games (music wise).

Here be me list, in no particular order, since order is irrelevant! For games which I haven't ever player or finished, I base my entry on a BGM player. My list may shamelessly omit a few obvious nominees, but as far as memory serves me I decided to pick games with somewhat positive or otherwise epic sounding music, and SD-Snatcher has mainly dark/spooky music.

So, here be me list again

Dragonslayer 6
Usas
King Kong 2
Penguin Adventure

Nemesis
Nemesis 2
Nemesis 3
Space Manbow

Xak
Xak 2
Xak tToG
Fray
IC

Aleste
Aleste 2
Aleste Gaiden
Randar 3

..for the moment.

Question is, what's your list? Before you're going to write down SD-Snatcher and the likes: subtract 20 years from your age (wild guess) and think 'Dreamy Disney'.. (or think Bob Ross, with his happy little trees, happy little clouds and happy little grassy hills).

Hello,

I agree with most of the titles of your list but I like very much these others:

- Rune Worth (I just love the music of this game, town themes are cool)
- Hinotori
- Metal Gear (there is more cool music, like the end theme)
- Ancient Ys Vanished Omen (highly re-arranged in lots of compilations, but always cool) - Ruins of Moondoria, Ice Ridge of Noltia, First Steps Towards War....
- Rastan Saga (dungeon theme is cool, maybe dark?)
- Craze - Intro music
- Feedback
- Rune Master III (very cool tunes)
- Arcus II - Intro music
- Fire Hawk - Thexder the Second Contact (one of the best in FM that I have hear)
- Penguinkun Wars II
- Nyancle Racing (Twin Bee style?)
- Super Rambo Special - Intro / End theme
- Contra (2 stage theme rocks... and the rest too)
- Gambare Goemon (I like all the tunes, very cool PSG, japanese style of course)

... and lot more!

Cool idea!

Ofcourse I couldn't disagree with the suggestions posted above, but here's my 2 cents.

Does "maximum over-the-top psychedelica" also apply to "dreamy Disney" ?

If yes, I'd give a listen to:

* Sa-Zi-Ri intro ( "Synchrotron" )

Also listen to the PC-88, or (better yet) the X-1 version.
You'll almost suspect David Bowie had a leftover song from the Labyrinth soundtrack which he sold to Telenet.

* Fantasm Soldier II, Visual scene after Act 2 ( "Vacanty theme 6" ) & "Vanity" theme (enddemo)

Diddo! That said; MSX versions already being dreamy as can be

* XZR I & II soundtrack

It's not hard to imagine some of those really Gershwin-esque tunes in an orchestral sounding arrangement.

...About those three games; I got a "Requiem for Telenet" planned myself so it's no "biggie" if you find them inappropriate for your purpose.

* Famicle Parodic 2 & Quinpl

Contain (great) music so cute, cuddly and sweet you should fear for the enamel of your dents when listening.

* Hydlide 3 introduction

...Not hard to imagine I guess.

* Psycho World, all 4 visual bgm's

Pretty obvious I guess.

The following ones may be not as "important" or profilic for MSX-bgm history.
However, I always found this songs very "dreamy" while not being overtly "dark / evil":

* Star Virgin introduction

* Darwin 4078 in-game tune

* Ashguine 1/2/3 introduction & enddemo

* Cross Blaim; first in-game tune

* Super Laydock introduction

* Twinkle Star; intro and stage 1 music

* Mr. Ghost
(god I'm predictable. I know. )

...Hope to have given at least 1 or 2 useful suggestions. Cheers!

Just to give you an impression, if I choose 25 games and I give each game 1 minute of airplay (could be 2 konami in-game tunes or a snippet of a demo), then it's a 25 minutes tune already.. I dunno whether you've ever made something of such a length, just try to envision the number '25' here.., in MB1.4 terms: it'd be around 800 patterns at typical speed! In any case I think I'll incorporate my own Sillycone Xmas as well, that tune by itself was already inspired by those Disney tunes, so it'd be easy to use it as a thematic backbone for the whole thing.

Hey,

What about Master of the Lamps? I think this game needs a "complete" re-arranged soundtrack with cool basses and some sitars or flutes.

Please keep in your list wolf!

A condition must be that the music has a substantial length and scope, and it should fit the Disney'ness idea.. But, will check out later..

That game is so cool and its music rocks!!!

It needs a remake as a whole!
