I purchased an MSX2 unit several weeks ago from Ebay. It was a foolish, impulsive purchase: while I thought I was getting a deal, the international shipping more than made up for any savings.
it's a Philips NMS 8250 MSX 2. it takes 220V electricity, and I presume outputs PAL. Living in the US, the first problem may be surmountable, but the latter may not be.
Is there any way I can get this unit to output NTSC, or am I better off trying to trade it to some European for an NTSC MSX2? |

You can buy a PAL to NTSC converter. They are not expensive (take a look at eBay).

Anyway, most of the modern TV sets have both NTSC/PAL support, are you sure yours doesn't support PAL color?

Too bad that you got raped on the shipping cost, but you have a good MSX2. It has 128k RAM and 720k DD which more than enough for just video games. Besides if you had bought one from japan the shipping cost would be about the same.
I wish I had MSX2 Philips. There's alot of DIY mods for these models like RAM upgrades and MSX2+ conversions. |

On top of that, you can even digitize and edit your old video tapes with a Philips NMS 8280! |

Tv's in the USA do not have PAL.
I sent lots of RGB monitors to the USA.
Then you only need a step-up converter
Guyjin, did you buy the computer with broken frontpanel????

Vampier, that doesn't change it to NTSC, but only to 60Hz... You can't change the video encoder from basic...
Doesn't it help to use RGB out (from the SCART plug) on a US TV with RGB in?

That person bought this computer from me for only 20 euro's on an auction.
But when he came home the power button doesn't work, maybe by putting the computer in his car.
So he used a printer to switch it on with a smash on the fron, this is the result.

40 euros is not a lot of money. It is not especially beautiful with that broken front panel, though |
