Guess you don't need R800 instructions for your MSXdev entry

haha that's what you think...
the game can be run in pure- (msx1) mode OR enhanced-mode:
if you have a mapper in your msx then it will use the extra memory for some cool effects...(precalculated)
if you run it on an msx2 in enhanced mode it will use prettier colors...
if the game is running on a turbo-r.....well still have to think of some cool effects...but it will be prettier...cause the turbo-r can do magic in ram..cause of it's lightning speed...and I'm planning to use it well..

Seems you really know what you're talking about, really great stuff you're working on.
Can't wait to see the result.
Maybe you can add another goal to your to-do list and develop a game for the GFX9000.
The GFX9000 is a really great videocard but unfortunately without any nice games designed for it.
We only have X-tazy, a promising but unfortunately unfinished shooter.

Yes, GFX9000, the next frontier .. the problem are the emulators .. OpenMSX can show GFX9000 but not in other window (SDL Limitation) and BLUEMSX i think that doesn't support it.
If emulators will support better this videocard ... i think that more people could make more things or maybe not

nerlaska: what's the problem of not showing it in another window? You can switch between GFX9000 and MSX view. Many MSX users also do this (using a SCART switch). Although the timing is not very accurate (see some other post), it's already about 90% complete, I think.

I'd like a default hotkey mapping, say [SHIFT]+[F5] orso, to instantly switch between msx and gfx9000 output modes.

manuel: nerlaska may have a point tho. I for one have my g9k connected to a TV and the normal MSX2(+) to a monitor. It may perhaps be practical sometimes to have 2 outputs, one (G9k) for the game/demo, and the normal output for debugging or hidden jokes.. hence, if someone supports 2 screens, then you want to emulate this I think.. |

I agree!! Developing for g9k without having 2 windows is terrible
Please, manuel add the two window support to openmsx or none never will develop a single game for it |

You can program a hotkey in a very simple way: bind F6 cycle videosource
With that you can toggle videosource by pressing F6.
Of course 2 windows would be great, but as ARTRAG already said, it's a limitation of SDL, so it's impossible to support it now.
Wolf: you still have to consider that many GFX9000 users do not have 2 separate monitors...
What is the problem of toggling between two windows? I can't believe that makes it terrible of impossible to develop software for GFX9000! Sure, it's less convenient than 2 separate windows, but is it that bad???
